Insurance again

Same question often asked....... suggestions for companies doing agreed value other than Adrian Flux?
All go through usual information gathering with a promise of a policy only to come back with
'Your car is too highly modified' :wall:

That's exactly the reason I want an Agreed Value policy:wierdo:

Anyone know of a good company (perhaps David Harrison)

I have my Audi 90 20v and Volvo Amazon rally car insured with these folk:

They are both insured comprehensively for competition use up to international level at very reasonable cost so may be worth a try.
Richard Egger with his wife Pat was an active competitor in stage rallies and they provide on-event road cover for MSA authorised rallies.

Just steer away from anything underwritten by Equity Red Star!

Yes, got the S6 insured last sept/oct online 2 days before the mot run out. They then flagged up by phone 3 days later saying they needed proof of why my i was only asking for a 3k mileage limit, which i thought strange plus i had to provide details and V5s showing other vehicles i have access too. Basically they didn't believe it. :wierdo: :wall: Total muppets!!!!!!!

This attitude makes me think they're more crooked than anybody out there and sticks in my craw as i'm 100% legit.

I couldn't provide a new mot as it had just expired and the rear brakes were in bits and waiting for new hoses. Despite me explaining i had only done 17 miles since last mot, during the previous 12 months, they wouldn't have it and said they needed a new mot and gave me 7 days to do this or they would cancel. Despite myself trying hard to get the hoses from Bf goodrich, they couldn't produce them quick enough for me to meet the insurance deadline, i canceled on them with them 2 days before the deadline. The broker and underwriter said i would loose £180 of my premium of £213 payed upfront in full.

My reply was "what for 10 days insurance where you know full well the car was not being driven waiting on brake parts". Basically i told them under no circumstances were they going to defraud me of my money and threatened to take it to my MP and the ombudsman. The tel operator said hold on a minute, and after 5 mins came back and said they were waving all their fees and that i would only loose the underwriter part of it £33 to Equity red star.

Don't forget to remember, when your asked for insurance you have to declare if you've ever been declined or had insurance cancelled. This will make you laugh!! So in January i go to get the car insured again with another broker who's put me with Equity Red Star for it to come back as i've had a policy cancelled on me. Exasperated i explained it's complete bull. I cancelled on them because of their ridiculous demands 2 days before the deadline. Luckily my new broker found a better quote for me than i got on line and didn't hold it against me but i can assure you the trouble and strife it's caused me not to mention false data held against me is worrying and will likely come up again.

I've got maximum ncb and 1 speeding fine doing 37 in 30 zone. All cars insured motd and taxed properly and squeaky clean. I've never know accompany like it, you can't just declare a 3000 mile classic policy, you'll have to show all the other cars you have to drive with V5 proof otherwise they're saying why was your total mileage so low? Personally i think it's scam between Equity red star and the brokers.

Good luck.

Wow, that's some story.
I just checked and I was underwritten by Red Star though Adrian Flux.
I certainly didn't share your experience maybe because of the age and all the mods on my car, it's fairly obvious it would not be a daily driver.
I'm in a very difficult position though. As I always complain this time of year, finding a company to quote with AV declaring all the mods, Adrian Flux are the only company that delivers. Reis as recommended above did give me a quote. I have however been here before - I get a quote and then some MG specialist decides my car is only worth £15k.
I've had this car since 1997 and never made a claim on it. It's obvioiusly a keeper and at my age, I think it highly unlikely would run a scam of some sort.
All I am after is protecting my pride and joy and should the worse happen and my car is written off or has a fire, I want to be able to replace it. Isn't that what insurance is for?
That is why I am trying to find Agreed Value. I did phone Sky and a few others that offer this, but not on my car due to the power and mods.
I do know of someone that was with AF. They wrote his car off following being hit from the side by a third party. They offered him nowhere near the value. It was not until a couple of letters from his solicitors that they finally settled. So even when you do things with the best honest intentions, the insurers make it as difficult to get a pay out as possible. So what can one do?

Yep what you've written above shows how exasperating insurance is!!

Did you not hear that last year or 18 months ago that Adrian Flux and Equity red star insurance was not worth the paper it was written on. There was major problem which worried me at thew time as i was with Flux. Something about about you wouldn't get paid out. I'm not joking this was brought up on the forum here and on S2 forum.

We have 5 Audis currently on the road, just bought another A2, i'm 52 so they know full well i'm no youngster and have access to other vehicles.

FYI,
Went with A Plan following a recommendation on S2Forum .
Quoted £90 less than Adrian Flux and not with ERS which apparently is a good thing.
I don't want to count my chickens just yet, as I have been here before with the insurer falling down at the last hurdle and offering half Agreed Value following thier 'independant (MG specilaist)' valuation, or withdrawing it due to the number of modifications.

A Plan modified vehicle number - 01635 874646
They do classic car as well

I tried A-Plan when I acquired my BMW 740 Sport last year as they are the recommended insurer for BMW Owners Club. Can't remember the precise figures now but their quote was more than double what I eventually paid to "The Nodding Dog" (Churchill or UK Insurance, formerly Prudential) with whom I have just renewed.

The Audi & Volvo are still insured with REIS under their Classic Car scheme. The BMW will probably go there when it's eligible (20 years old).
