Oil Filter threaded union

Looking for a 'short' threaded union for the oil filter housing to filter.

I have just mullered mine and still not got it out.

I ended up chiseling mine sideways to get it to turn
It was well glued in

Taking it to work today to use a 'big' vice

Got it out today. New molegrips and a hammer got it to move. Need to rethread it. Can use it as a spare.

What glue/threadlock should be used on the new one?

Duffy3074 26-06-18 04:36 PM

I just used a smidge of loctite blue

Bugger!

New VW oil filter housing is STRAIGHT old is angled. GGGRRRRRRR

And so what's the problem? When it comes to some B3 A80, angled filter flange is for weaker engines without oil heat exchanger, while injection engines with oil heat exchanger uses straight one. In situation where there is no heat exchanger, there should be no problems in using either one.

Pipe wrench is more convenient tool, especially small one. As for glue - nothing - it holds there just fine when it has been torqued with adequate force.
