DIY Camper conversion..

So anyone done it!? Just about to embark on Mk 3, Mk 1 and 2 were too small!

Looks a mine field but it's an interesting project to do, all skills at the ready, timber working, electrics, plumbing, going for a solar panel or two this time, and a bog! (wife wants one as the kids stop us every ten minutes when we're on the road.:wall:)

Looked at mini busses - void idea, deleted, most of them are too heavy unless I sit another test.

7.5 tonner - void - deleted, unworkable on single track roads and ferries and tolls would kill you! And I'd need another test!

Small Japanese 4x4 campers - nice but over priced and too small and we already tried that one!

Really want a 4x4 base but they're all inflated in the price department these days unless you buy something reallly old, like 1970's old!

Old VWs - Void, too rusty and too predictable.

Will update but may go crafter.:hmmm:

Mk 2 is this thing, (if I can get any image hosting sites to work!) works great and drives up mountains, easier than setting a tent up but just tooo small now... someone could have told me that children stretch over time..

I'd better remember to pull my hand brake on firmly. And not park too close to the edge of the cliff. Other than that happy days!

Ah yes, the age old problem of children, they start to stretch, then they eat more, then they constantly need bigger clothes and bedrooms as they stretch even more :yikes:

Was looking at them, banana engine! Just too heavy at 3.8T, I passed my test after 1997 so I can only drive up to 3.5T without sitting a £2K driving test.:lol::tup:

Looked at them and looking at maybe a pickup and roof tent because buying a van is a fekn minefield of a nightmare!

Currently winding up a scammer from gumtree who is a 'divorced surgeon who is selling their ex-husbands van because - I sell at this price because I need money to leave UK [sic]. Apparently on a training program [sic] in Germany and wants me to instigate a £4K escrow transaction and have the van delivered to my door within 48Hrs.

Aye right...:lol::lol:

Amazes me that people have no shame.

That's a pity because they're a lot of van for not much money.
