door mirrors

hi can anyone shed light on how to remove the door mirrors on the 80 b4 saloon cheers

You need to rotate them to reveal a pair of bolts in the base which secure them on the door.

Be careful with these. Only a 4mm allen bit and they're a soft material

Get loads of WD40 sprayed down there before you try and leave to soak for a while, as mentioned the bolt heads can be like chocolate, if you round them out it's a drilling out job then.
After these are taken out the whole mirror is removed.

yep 2 bolts stuck solid and rounding off, plenty of wd40 had been put on,and its the same bolt on either door so must be a problem with them, gonnae drill them out tonight after tea ,is there a wiring connection to be taken apart after all this and is it in the door skin or mirror cheers.

There is wiring in the door and the mirror so be careful, just drill the bolt head off, unplug the mirror after you lift it from the door and then tuck the wiring in the door out of the way if you need to drill the rest of the bolt out, once the heads came off mine the rest just unscrewed.
Take your time and you will be okay :)

No prob's, if you have to drill the rest of the bolts out remove the doorcards and hoover the swarf out, check none is in the window mechs too, no rust in the door bottoms then and no jammed window mechs.
