There are two 'easy' options. Finding a complete setup is not always easy, but gathering the parts individually is fairly straight forward.

1. G60 calipers. Twin piston. Using a 276x25mm disc. This was the standard fit on the MB cars, onwards. They are a direct swap, but my memory says the standard hoses need changing also.

This setup works very well. I used it for a while on my '85 WR. Sorry, the bits aren't for sale.

2. Porsche Boxter calipers, using a slightly larger 288x25 disc, straight off the shelf. It's the standard vented disc from the Audi 100.
I'm running this setup now. Visually, it is quite a bit more appealing than the old sliding reaction type calipers. Performance wise, it's very nice, but not a massive improvement on top of the G60s that I'd used first.
This setup requires a custom adaptor for the caliper. They were originally produced by Bambridge/Kevin Reynolds, but they could be made by anyone with the tooling, as it is a fairly simple aluminium block, with helicoil inserts.
£250 for a pair of calipers. Disc options aplenty. Pads are standard, with many upgrade options.

Both setups suit standard 15" wheels.

Wr brakes

I did reply but as usual up here e mail playing up, I had thought that the G60 caliper set up required the specialist carriers which I have tried ti getand failed as no longer made, if I could get dimensions I would get made, My car is an 84 wr 10 valve not the mb version, if it is a straight fitment I would go this route as with the modifications on mine the brakes are not good enough Thanks

The original WR brakes setup used a 280x22mm disc. Single piston caliper- G54 I think. The G60 caliper and thicker disc came in on the MB, but I've seen quite a few WRs with them too.

On the track, with the original setup, I'd be getting fade, using green stuff pads, then later red stuff.
I wanted to uprate. I went the G60 route which is a similar design caliper, but 2 pistons, and a thicker disc.
You would need 2 calipers, 2 carriers, 2 discs, set of pads. It's a straight swap, mechanically. Pete Reeve may even still have a source of the caliper carriers.
However- If I remember correctly, there is a length difference in the hydraulic hoses. Using Goodridge braided hoses, one version of the hoses being at the end of their free length on full steering lock. I just can't remember exactly which combo.

There was a much greater improvement going from single piston to twin piston calipers, than going from twin piston to Porsche monoblocks.

If that makes sense.
