Locking wheel nut recommendations?
 

I need to get some for my urQuat. Just tried Pete but he don't do them now. Any ideas, ones to avoid, and where to get? (It's ages since I bought any for anything.)

Don't go for the ones with the studs in the key, if they get over torqued the key shears. Years ago I spent about £250 having them machined off... Never again.

I bought some genuine Audi ones for my ur somewhere on line.
Will dig out where and part no. for you later today. We're quite reasonable iirc :tup:

Got a set from Halfords a few years ago for about £25. Rather than studs they have an intricate curved pattern cut into the key. :D

The ones I bought were part no. 4F0698137 from an eBay seller. I think 4D0698137 is also the same, possibly designated for A6/A8. Paid £22.

The radius of the seat is the same as standard bolt and thread length was within 5mm of the original. I've not had any problems with mine.
As Ringmaster says, they are of the intricate pattern type.

The trick is to torque up the three non security nuts and tighten the locking nuts but not to the desired torque

Thanks for your help guys. Wierd how I automatically assume everything on a Quattro is a bit 'special'. It's just a locking wheel bolt, can be got all over the place. However, am I correct in thinking that the correct size is M14x1.5x27mm, radius seat, 17mm hex head?

The best trick is not to leave the key in your glove box or in the spare wheel well. Thief's these days will have one guy jack it up the other unscrews the nuts using a gun whilst a third smashes the windows and grabs the lock nut / key out of the glove box and anything else they want. 3-5 mins tops to do 4 wheels and any on show goodies in the car.
