Gents, boys and girls,

The material, I now believe is the Quartz pattern, on the door cards is looking like as baggy as a set of Nora Battys best undies.

Firstly before I try and pull it all off, can it be removed from the foam backing, and as the foam is breaking up and for some reason gone as sticky as hell is this just normal 1/4" foam stuck on the door card first or was it the bonded to the material first in some way ?

Has anyone else recovered theirs successfully using the OE material ?

I've done a couple of avant headlinings but have a few saggy b4 doors to do also! Bloody orange foam, you'll find bits of it in years to come and get flashbacks!

Good luck with this David, as missfire says, that orange stuff is terrible, sticks everywhere in little crumbs, and you keep finding bits of it ages after.

Not sure what it is, I was picking at it earlier and it was just the sh%ttist stuff I have felt.

I wasn't sure if the cloth material was stuck to the foam or not. I know when doing vinyl or leather dash boards, door cards etc you don't usually stick to the foam as it will leave depressions and dents if you touch it, usually you just pull tight and wrap behind.

I am not looking forward to cleaning that stuff off.

For cleaning the crap off, I used a stiff hand brush first, for the bulk/worst of the remaining foam. Then brown packing tape- run a short strip of tape onto the foam. Peel off, repeat. Time consuming, but it helped stop the stuff blowing around too much, too.

I used largely the same process (tape) to collect all the fallout that had migrated around the car interior.

Is it possible to use this type of double sided sheet to stick the cleaned up original door cloth to the new 3mm thick foam backing once the foam backing is on the door card. Thinking it must be better than spray adhesive on the cloth facing side of the foam backing as I though the spray adhesive would bleed through the cloth ?

It does bleed through foam backed headlining material if you put too much on, you have to be sparing!

The problems have been well documented but does anyone have a coach builder/interior trim specialist
in mind who can do this headliner job as good as they left the factory??
