Does this Q5 look good to you?

A very good friend of mine went to look at a 13 plate Q5 quattro today (see link below).

Naturally, she asked my opinion on the mistaken assumption I know all things Audi. It's a couple of grand over her max budget, but I think the price may be about right.

2 owners, £17995, manual, 2.0L diesel, 22k miles (seems genuine), leather, fully loaded.

Apparently looks as good as the photos.

Any opinions or warnings you can share on this will be appreciated.:tup:

Doesn't have nav so not fully loaded which will make it harder to sell again.

SE is also bottom of the range spec wise. Look like non-xenon headlights. S-line or black editions will have them standard.

Just my initial observations from a quick look.

That’s a basic spec car, very little in the way of options for one of these.

Would you say the dealer is asking too much, in view of the spec? :confused:

It’s worth what he can sell it for is the bottom line.
There’s no easy answer to your question as it depends on warranty, what he’d give as a trade in, etc etc

My point was that it’s not a high spec/loaded with extras car, it’s essentially basic spec.

It's a lot of money for a 5 year old 2.0 diesel.

You're paying for the low miles. A higher spec one will likely be available at similar money with some more miles.

My honest opinion..

Do not pay a premium for a low mileage modern diesel, the dpf is the first cause for concern.

Next the spec. SE is the least desirable, that coupled with no sat nav and a manual box really wont helping it. OK if you want to keep it forever, wont travel far and like changing gear. Kiss of death if you want to sell on again it in the next few years.

My tip Q5 TFSI S Line S Tronic with sat nav and a few miles on it. Highly likely the petrol is going to hold its value better than the diesel, certainly much more with S Tronic & Nav. If the buyer is doing lower mileage then this makes an even more compelling buy.

Oh, if the buyer is elderly, go for the TFSI SE S Tronic. The flat seats and higher profile tyres make it a more comfortable ride, the rest still stands.

Just my opinion

Agree with all of the above, we kept our old A4 fully stamped history and low mileage for 5 years, when we sold it as a 7 year old car, the difference between FSH, polished, mint, low mileage and a dirt bag high mile car, with no history was £1200.... In other words, far less difference than the effort of passing on a nice car with a stamped book.

Bottom line is, if you intend to sell it again, treat it like a rented mule.

I tried steering her clear of diesels, with all their potential pitfalls, but my friend wasn't bothered. She is too excited about a new car to think straight, me thinks.

She's not the sort to look after a car. Her dogs have priority, so I fear for any interior.:eek:

Anyway, the latest is that the dealer wouldn't budge on the price so she walked away.

Another thing to tell her is to be aware of is the ULEZ in London a 13 plate diesel will be subject to a charge to enter after April 2019. not so bad if you never go near London in a car, but other citys are looking at doing the same. The car would need to be euro 6 for a diesel or Euro 4 for petrol for them not be subject to the charge it will start to have a an effect on resale eventually
