Body trims- black coating splitting

The black coating is splitting, unsightly, and has a sharp edge.

Is there a known solution or renovation?

Forget where i saw it now, there was a guy who had the same problem so he peeled it all off, then he put black wrap ? on the trims, it looked fine in a photo but i don't know what it looked like close up.
