Has to be upstream of the comparator. Safest thing is to run a new wire from the switch.

Yup. I don't know where the controller is on the 90, but on most cars of the era it's in the boot on the left, sometimes screwed to the rear of the C-pillar root.

Part 857 919 471 controls/monitors the rear lights and brake lights - there's a special version of this for the central brake light; 443 919 471B

I presume this latter extends checking to the central light, but if it's enough for you that the two at the side are checked, then you need to wire into the brake circuit upstream of 857 919 471. Check for a 1.0mm red/black wire that goes live when the brake pedal is pressed.

Thanks phil,
Aye i seen some sort of box there when i was wiring in the alarm, wondered what that was lol :o
I would settle for it wired in, but would prefere to do it right if possible, anything to help blind spastics see me braking and not write this one off on me lol ;) :yikes:

I have a high mounted brake light on my van and was just rearended at a stoplight yesterday. Driver was stopped, but said his foot slipped off the brake and onto the throttle. Lots of damage to my vehicle.:grr:
