Help i'm struggling on this.
As above, i'm trying to undo the cars original hard brake lines on the S6 saloon to change the flexi hoses and they're rock solid. Ive so far tried freezing them and can slightly turn the 11mm nut on the brake line but it's twisting the brake line also.:wall: This has happened on both sides at the rear. I have spare perfect lines removed from the 2.8 quattro donor car but have just realised if i'm going to replace all the rear lines to just under where the rear seat is i'll have to remove the fuel tank. Thats a big no no as the car is on the road and i can't move it. Can anyone suggest a way around this problem?

You need a spanner on the rear hex to stop it turning, get yourself a couple of brake spanners to do it easier.:tup:

Remove the assembly through the hole (there should be enough flex in the hard line). Lots of heat should be enough to undo it or use a dremel to cut a groove in the remains of the ferrule which will allow the brake nut on the hard line to be undone |

If all the above fails, or as an alternative, you could cut the hard line in a suitable place, fit a female union and flare the pipe. Then make up a new male-male pipe to replace the section you cut out.

Just heat the complete assembly - just be careful as brake fluid is flammable

I assume you have tried Plusgas Formula A? :idea:
I buy it in 2 litre tins and top up my little 250ml applicator tin; one of my bus club friends buys it in 5 litre tins! :yikes: |
