£26k rs2!!!!

Just spotted a Ragusa Green RS2 Avant on Pistonheads for sale. It is the one that Ben at AVPerformance has done work on. Very low miles, and having seen it in the metal, a very nice car. Not my favourite colour, RS Blue/blue alcantara or Volcano Black/full black leather being my choice of colour. Wants a big wedge for it at £26K. Can anybody stick a link to the ad up for me?

David Small 16-02-10 11:53 PM

Dis is de link !!

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1504701.htm

Would appear you're paying a grand for each of the 26,000 miles its travelled - does look nice though.

SteveT63 17-02-10 12:44 AM

Ive been in it......Its like brand new and for me, worth very close to every single penny of the asking price.....

john johnson 17-02-10 01:17 AM

Yeah, it's an awesome car , love it .....can I part ex the wife??

pimpdriver 17-02-10 07:41 AM

why has it had a "barry blow over" then?

"Cosmetic respray of front bumper, bonnet, wings, mirrors, doors, boot lid"

Well, there's a shock cos I didn't realise he would consider parting with this car!

It had paint for no other reason than he is, rightly so, a perfectionist and it had a few stone chips etc. Looks like new now!
I love this car and although I didn't originally like the colour it's grown on me!

I can obviously vouch for the condition of this car - I'll be gutted if it sells!

This car has had a LOT of money spent on it!!!!!

john johnson 17-02-10 08:17 AM

tis stunning Benster.....dunno who the spannermeister was though :moon:

NorrS2 17-02-10 08:19 AM

To a real Audi enthusiast that has the bucks, the Engine revamp and the cosmetic repairs for the purpose of enhancing the car, is not going to bother them, even enhance the appeal. However, to the "collectors" of this world, the car's originality has been compromised, and therefore it's value. It's a difficult one to call, but I'd buy it if I had a spare £26k lying around (which, unfortunately I don't)!:( It's one of those car's that's "worth what it's worth" to whoever want's to buy it!

john johnson 17-02-10 08:53 AM

Its one of those rare cars that feels and smells new, i know of some that are low mileage like this and have not worn it very well at all.......

I tend to agree with this.
£26k is a lot of bucks for an RS2.
Cars are only original once and that kind of money is collectors money, not someone who's going to use the horses in the engine bay to its best potential.
I saw the car and had a good look over it at the Breakfast Club when Ben was 'testing' it!
It is spot on. Very well looked after and a stunning example, but I think he may struggle to get that kind of price for it.

26k is allot of coin but just spotted this beauty, 32,000 miles for £29,995!!:yikes:

http://www.carandclassic.com/car/C67450/

Maybe the 26k RS2 is not bad value after all.:hmmm: This one is in red, for me not the best colour for an RS2

Both cars are supreme examples of the RS2. I think the car dealer needs to read this forum, for it states that their RS2 is, 'the lowest mileage example in the country'!!

Regards

£32k is a bit on the extreme side to say the least!!!! I, maybe with only 10k and carcooned all it's life!

I remember "about" 5 years ago, there was a Noggy Blue RS2 with only 20,000 miles on it on the S2 forum I think and the guy was looking for £22k then! Seems that low mileage examples are/have gone up in value???

The Dealer will at least claim that his car "original". Not, that it makes it the better car!

I know which one I would have!

Emjay 17-02-10 03:31 PM

fantastic, £26K and can't be driven....the point is???

I can appreciate the collectors value and for sure the world needs collectors but at the end of the day the car will just become a museum piece. Personally I prefer to buy a car that I don't mind driving so I wouldn't splash the dosh.

Unless of course I knew I could bang the car out for double it's value in 5 years but no guarantee's there.

pimpdriver 17-02-10 03:35 PM

I'd rather have Simmo's S2 Avant.........

I know that one, it was fitted with red GT3 RS rims which to be fair looked utter wank.

Nicely put, Mr C!

Kenquattro 17-02-10 04:53 PM

There is a couple of rare MK1 Capris on Ebay at the moment. The first is a LHD RS2600, and as of last night was up to £17k. The second, an RS3100, was at £10K. There is also a 20K miles from new Series One Escort RS Turbo for £20K. What price would a 20K mile ur quattro fetch?

gabriel.oconnell 17-02-10 05:08 PM

very clean car but alot of cash 26k woooooooooooooooooooow

unless ofcourse you could afford it and did want to drive it
waste of a musuem piece but a hell of a good way to use a car

this is the one!
nicest noggy blue RS2 in the UK and they do this (sorry if the owner is on here, but you should have gone to Specsavers!)

I do believe he's put it back to standard wheels as I think my opinion was mirrored by many who saw it.

fair does it must have seemed a good idea when he was drunk cos thats the only reason I can imagine that would have led to those wheels on that car. :hand:

And when I say drunk I mean very very very drunk. The sort of drunk you get when you wake up in the morning and ask yourself if you really did kop off with that rank ugly munter. Beer goggles to the ready

I think I might go on a one man mission tonight and get totally bladdered as the missus is out, and then look back at these pics later on and see if it looks any better.

Just to see if your theory is right! Kinda like a scientific experiment!!!

Emjay 17-02-10 06:49 PM

well to make sure the experiment is statistically robust you'll need to repeat the experiment 20 times. This should give you a good data set to work from

Just make sure you don't inadvertently kop of with any minging munters mind you :hand:

In the words of Dolly Parton herself, "It cost a lot of money to look this cheap". I think the original 17" wheels can't be improved on when it comes to the RS2. Same applies to the ur quattro. 15" x 8" Ronals every time, or the 15" x 7" Fuchs on the early analogue dash cars. Love the RS2 in RS Blue, though. Iconic.

Interesting Comments

Thankyou for all the positive comments. It is the AVPerformance car that Ben Williamson has worked on and on which about £15K has been lavished and which I allow Ben to take to the various meets to help him showcase his business.

Coxy I looked at M799 KPG when Roy was selling and decided against purchase as the interior was not as good as mine, plus it was still on original Dunlops when I saw it and there was some rear bumper damage

To answer a few questions:
PAINTWORK
Previous owner had before purchase from Fontains (we all know who they are) insisted on stone chips being removed on bonnet & bumper. They did the bumper, bonnet, front wings. They older chap hadn't noticed that that there was a slight mismatch in colour (I could see this in bright sunlight), they had stopped at the doors and also hadn't really bothered to get rid of the stone chips as I could just see them under the paint where the paint had sunk.

I sourced the boot spoiler from Germany, so at same time decided to have the front end done properly. The paintshop got a bit carried away and did more of the car than was originally intended and yes it is most of the car. Needless to say it was spot on workmanship. Only bit I didn't like was the bill.

MECHANICS:
Not a QST, MTM or MRC upgrade.
If any one knows Ben Williamson of www.avperformance.co.uk then enough said. If not read the latest Audi Drivers magazine on the B5 RS4 engine. This guy knows his stuff. Ben has gone through the car from front to back and everything has been sorted 100% and improved where possible. The engine was fine apart from a slight valve stem leak, so with this in mind and wanting more power and a better power delivery I decided on the engine work, needless to say this has been achieved very succesfully at a price (I have been a bit conservative on the cost)

This is a very nice car and the second RS2 I've owned, so I know a lot of their faults. ie handbrake, brakes, turbo delay/surge, aircon, etc etc. I have also owned a standard S2 and a Nothelle N300. I physically looked at three RS2's before this one and had the car mechanically inspected prior to purchase.

The car is currently back with Ben at AVPerformance as I have a list of work that I want completing which includes HID lights, new PAS pump, an extra SS silencer back in (I like it quiet) and front brake upgrade. If anyone wants to take a look or to check on the work give Ben a call.

I agree the car is not cheap but it is a testament to its condition. I don't really want to sell the car and I won't be that bothered if it doesn't, as I know I will never be able to replace it again. Ben might not forgive me

john johnson 18-02-10 12:13 PM

the car is indeed stunning, shortarse showed it me a few months back ....best one i've seen by far:tup:

... if you dont NEED to sell it and not bothered if it does or not... then WHY? it looks a stunning bit of Audi heritage.
..and as you say probably couldnt replace it with a car of similar credentials.

Also the amount of t/l/c and money lavished on it as well I would have thought your feelings towards it would be a bit warmer.

lovely car though.

Garages are looking a little full. Sacrifices have to be made sometimes. Have a nice Alfa GTV6 up for grabs as a cheaper alternative for people!
