What am I going to do?

My lads just turned six.
He's had a go at football, archery, swimming etc and he's neither very keen or very good at any of them.
Today I took him to a dance class and he loved it.
He wants to express himself through the medium of dance it seems :cryin::yikes::smilewinkgrin:

missfire 30-01-10 07:10 PM

good on him...

i think sport is a load of crap too....!! although i keep fit...

'great minds'.........and all that..........

stuartmmcfc 30-01-10 07:12 PM

seemed like a lot of fun so I wouldn't dream of stopping him.
plus some of the waiting mums were a bit yummy :arf:

BW2309 30-01-10 07:14 PM

Let him do it, just don't tell ya mates down the pub!

Only kiddin, if he enjoys it let him crack on!

Everyone has something they enjoy - ignore anyone who says what he's doing is wrong!

Wish I could dance, or sing, or do anything slightly entertaining!

Well, saying that, I CAN sing, it just sounds terrible!

Yep, let him go for it, he's probably got a natural ability for enjoying balance and control, that'll be something that can translate into any sport or lifestyle in the future should dance not stay in favour... If it does stay in favour, all the better, he could get a decent career and a lot of fun from it.

I certainly wouldn’t fret… It’s great he’s broad minded and thinking outside the box, a trait he has gained, I would suggest, from his good folk at home.

Very best regards

Ian

stuartmmcfc 30-01-10 07:23 PM

what a nice lot of replies, I'm actually pleased and not at all surprised by how well he's taken to it..
Hard to believe it now but I used to be a pretty cool dancer in my day.

Emjay 30-01-10 07:35 PM

let him do it. If I had my time again I'd have loved to be a dancer, I strike a mean move in the kitchen of an evening :yikes:

You should be overjoyed. A remarkable child you have. Intelligient, possessing both a good sense of his own desires, and fantastic judgement!
I can't comment on his rection to the other sporting activities, but! His rejection of football is highly commendable. Good for him.

(can you tell I'm not much of a footie fan? (unless keira knightly is playing, that is))

When it comes to deleting it, I think a woman is more than qualified in identifying the abundance of 'old flannel' surrounding the less than great (nee. Public House) luminaries of 'The Beautiful Game'...

Coxy 30-01-10 09:50 PM

Get's a huge 2 thumbs up from me!

I love contemporary dance, it's a fantastic expressive and artistic form of dance.
I'll admit to being glued in front of the box watching Got to Dance on Sky.

Stuart, watch this. I hope he aspires to this young man.

Jean Claude van Damme started as a ballet dancer.

Good on him, whatever makes him happy.

"The towel dance"; is this the one where the man steps out of the shower, towel wrapped round his mid-riff, enters the bedroom where his good wife/partner sits to await his return, the man then stands in front of the mirror, pulls away towel and then waves his willy in a circular motion shouting "whoooo whooooo' at the top of his voice!??!?!

never missed a home league fixture for 21 years unless I've been on my deathbed or on holiday or business...and never for shopping, whatever that is

Anyway moving on from the thread robber, i think you should let your son do what he wants to do and support and encorage this most noble of arts........... repression has odd ways of showing up in adulthood.

look at this, it is modern and cool

Stuart, out of 30 posts, you'll find about 3 sensible replies. That gives a Classic Audi sensible figure of 10% which to be fair, is quite good!

stuartmmcfc 30-01-10 10:56 PM

I've been really touched by these sensible replies :p
ofcourse I hope you realise this was a bit tongue in cheek and that I'm dead proud and supportive of what ever he whats to do or how he ends up.
as long as its not like this..

YouTube- Ricky Gervais: David Brent Dance

quite honestly, the worst comedian to have ever graced our TV screens.
