There was a very similar example on sale in Cork (the one that was only ever used as a static display car) about three years ago, the price IIRC was about £25k ..........

john johnson 27-01-10 09:59 AM

I'm personally not surprised Nigel. I do appreciate what the car is, but IMHO it just too much of a Mongrel to be worth anything like that sum. Ok, it has the "it belonged to Frank Williams" tag on it, but really, who cares!

When you consider that you could get a Sport quattro with about 10k on it for the same or less, (I have seen them) I know where my money would go.

Problem with a sport quattro is, everone you meet when you are out and about driving a normal UR quattro is that there friend used to have on a bit like that, but it was a shorter version

No real reason is I cannot fit in a sport, I am just about 4" to tall and with the seats as far back as poss my legs are wedged against the door and steering wheel, I can fit in a 6R4 :D

baron2211 29-01-10 06:26 PM

Anyone notice the Renault Alpine behind the metro?????

Puglife 29-01-10 08:07 PM

There is/was a 6R4 shell on ebay for £15k.....

dubmeister 29-01-10 08:26 PM

A mate worked at an Austin Rover dealership back when they released the 6R4, got taken out in a clubman 250hp road one by the head salesman, close ratio sprint 'box, 115 mph top whack, but by fook it got there quick!!!!!!!!
the noise inside was something else......blame that car on my partial deafness in my right ear..............pardon.............

But 76k for a metro........................

gabriel.oconnell 30-01-10 10:45 AM

yes it is the loudess rally car i have ever been in also speaking to tony pond several years ago he said the same , he was the only guy who could drive both the tr8 and the 6r4 properly noone else could ever

You're not wrong mate, a guy I used to work with said that he used to have one :wierdo: I found that he may have had a Dialynx shortie (still doubtful), but then he hadn't even heard of Dialynx!
Some even think that mine is a short quattro :yikes: :shake: (wish it was, a proper one that is).
Another twunt keeps asking me what bhp has it got, every bloody day! :fire:

I don't take it to work anymore.........

Nigel Conniford 30-01-10 01:29 PM

Nope, I took the ads down Nige. Not really the right time of year, even though I got quite a bit of interest from Germany and Austria, but they wanted me to jump through hoops, knock the price well down 'cos they wanted to do a lhd conversion :wierdo: And pay for the car when it arrived over there.....errr, NO.

I'll be gutted to see it go anyway. I lost the place that I was interested in anyway, but I'm sure they'll be others so the time may have to come sadly. :(
Until I hopefully get another somewhere down the line anyway!.........

Booty 30-01-10 04:32 PM

Looking at it, I would say I.M.H.O. that the car is in Clubman Spec. But what a car. The noise alone sells it to my very soul and back. The drivers in the 80's used to wear jet fighter pilot helmets to help subdue the noise.

Far too expensive IMO and don't you just hate to see a car like that locked away in some corner of a garage, criminal.
