The VW badge seems to add about a grand on to anything nowadays.
You get a helluva lot more Seat for your money than you would if it was a Golf.
You can get a fully specced Seat Leon for the same as a standard spec Golf.
I know where my money would go, and to be fair, the Seat is a bloody nice looking car.

hi micky ,i have owned a seat leon cupra before my a4 and can honestly say a v/good car with plenty of grunt if needed .

Me and Flossie are on our third Seat Leon. Started with a Y Plate SE Tdi, then a Y Plate Cupra and now she has one of the last Cupras ( old shape ) on a 54 reg, well it's actually on a private plate now. The only issues we have ever had were the three wires going to each of the coil packs on the Y plate Cupra. The insulation was cracked and they arked out at higher revs. Seat couldn't find the problem investigating it on six occasions. That car did 1201k miles and was also remapped to 210bhp. The one we have now has just turned 130k miles and has, touch wood, never had an issue. This is remapped to 210bhp also and they go like a train. She returns 34mpg no issue, uses no oil and will do 400 miles to a tank. Tyre wear on the 225 /17 / 45's is brilliant with no issues. Comfortable, pretty quick, go - cart handling, roomy with some nice standard features like folding mirrors, climate, 6 cd changer, computer. We love em. The only trouble is I don't like the newer shape too much and ours will be changed before the year is out.

You need to make sure that is 99% spot on Micky before you go buying one of them. Massive engine bills if owts wrong, seriously. Love em though. Why not the later 3.6 one or the V8?

This could actually be an M5 - if its got the dog leg manual box and the engine out out of the BMW M1 rather than an M535i which had a bog standard 3.5 engine and a Mtechnic body kit and wheels. Unfortunately the add doesn't tell you anything useful to determine this.

Nice motor though...

type81 25-01-10 02:18 AM

jaguars look nice and have amazing rides, but they not reliable, that twr 5.3 looks amazing

but you will have to keep ten grand spare for when it goes wrong! and it will go wrong,

had the 3.6 version and guess wot it went wrong, had a daimler 4.0 and that went to, seats stopped working windows stopped air suspension went, oh it had a folder full of receipts and work that had been done to it £20000 worth! do you know why? coz it kept going wrong! :hmmm: now that honda legend looks more promising never seen one on
the hard shoulder, old folks must be doing something right :hmmm:

5potnoodle 25-01-10 02:27 AM

If you want reliability, cheap parts, easy modification, 4WD and performance, you could look at a Subaru Forester turbo of some description. The impreza boys are always taking bits off their cars and selling them cheap on ebay and they all fit the Foz because underneath it's just an Impreza with a grown-up body and extra ground clearance. They corner well because of the low centre of gravity offered by the flat four engine and they at least sound okay... though not as good as a 5 pot :)

Just don't get one with an auto box though, because they are a bit boring to drive.

Micky 25-01-10 10:10 AM

yes i have had 2 scoobys 1 wrx and a forester  great cars but the insurance went mental on the wrx and the forester was a tad small for me .i am 6ft 3" and i had to have one without the sun roof just to get in  the more i here about the leon it seams like a good bet

1.8 turbo engine.
Very tuneable with anything from 150bhp to how much your wallet can take!!

maybe you could try finding a car a little further away!!

ZermattGT 25-01-10 11:37 AM

I like the Leon Micky. The nose is great, with the black meshed grills. Nice alloys. Love to see one in another color like blue metallic or even white. Looks a little like the last of the Saab 900 series. We do not have this Marque in the States. 150 bph out of the box?
