2.2kv engine. tsr head, shrick cam

As per title,
Im putting the engine from my 90q up for sale due to imminent (hopefully) engine swap.
Its based on the stock 2.2kv. Its got a tsr stage 3 head and shrick 272deg cam (ive got receipts for both)
The engine is sweet as a nut. Doesnt smoke or use any oil or water.
Bad points- The alternator is sometimes a bit squeeky sometimes and the rocker cover is seeping slightly.
Other than that its spot on. Its still in the car and will be until it sells so if anyone wants to come and have a look, listen, drive, poke, prod. Theyre more than welcome to.
The sale is for the complete engine, manifolds and ancillairies Including k-jet inj system, metering head etc.

price is £275

Im in sunny kent btw

quattropower 13-12-09 08:49 PM

Dont you mean rainy kent, lol. I have heard this running and it sounds good, will provide many hours of fun to someone.

peanut 14-12-09 10:12 PM

Ive been reliably informed this is the big valve head

b2_sport 14-12-09 11:57 PM

Does the KV lump mate with the DZ gearbox? Or is it advisable to use a KV gearbox?

I am interested in the lump, if it fits into my 80 Sport; I am also up the m25 in Ilford!

Personally id use the kv box from a gt. You will need the 5cyl engine mounts as theyre different to the 4 pot ones. Other than that yes it would fit fine. That would be a very interesting swap into a 2wd 80 sport

Ive got someone whos interested coming to view it on sunday. Im free most evenings or during the day sunday.

Just to add, the price is not negotiable. I think its a fair price and i need that to go towards getting the new engine ine.

Engine can be available roughly mid jan and id like a deposit before i remove the engine
Thanks
Gav

I can assure anyone thinking about buying this engine that it is good and quick (I owned it for the previous 6 months).Well worth the asking price

quattropower 15-12-09 09:18 AM

Gav, you selling your gearbox with this? If not if one is needed I have one spare.

If I hadnt bought that aby lump I would have bitten yer arm off.

b2_sport 15-12-09 11:51 AM

I am dropped you a PM.

Also what gearbox am I looking for to be specific? Just so that I know what I am searching for.

20vcqdriver 15-12-09 12:20 PM

Ported heads on the 5 cylinder make a massive difference and with cam change to 272 (best one for road use) will be kicking out a healthy 170bhp and 165Lb/ft. Mine used to produce 165bhp and 165lb/ft on its 2337cc block but I kept standard cam. Price seems cheap bearing in mind the head is worth double that on its own.. My stage 3 'KV' head work cost £650 14 years ago. :yikes:
Bargain for someone..

peanut 15-12-09 09:03 PM

cheers for the comments folks. Its a cracking engine, the only reason im selling is to help cover the cost of impending engine swap

Audi Derek 15-12-09 09:10 PM

I have two heads here (one on the cq rally car) and they were just under £1000 each..

yep, ive got the receipt from tsr here.
The head was bought new in 2002 from TSR for a sum of £998.75(supply only) with a special order compression ratio of 11.1
The shrick cam is a 272 and was again bought new from TSR for £380.13 (supply only)

So yeah, a lot of money been spent on this engine

BIGGYIN 15-12-09 09:33 PM
