We've done pictures, what about music?

The other main passion in my life apart from Cars and Photography/Art is music.
Always listened to music with blinkers off as I like to think I can appreciate a lot more than just one or two genres of music.
A few of my recommends for this year are:

Duffy
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zlcRRn...eature=related

well worth a listen.

And also the trees.
an old goth band who seemed to have mellowed out into something rather fantastic
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2w3j2QK5T_0

and my favorite from last year was Kero One. A superb fusion of Jazz & Hip Hop
can't find this one on Youtube, but it's his song used for this Temper video.

Dont mind the first one, reminds me of a song from my childhood which i cant place right now.
Other two didnt really do much for me though..... ah well. :)

My musical tastes are pretty varied, im not stuck on one particular group, style, genre or era, basically if it hits the spot thats good enough for me. :)

I tend to like knocking up short videos of various scenarios or situations, heres one i did a while back of a car that gets a life of its own.....

the sequel... :)

and another little one done with a few minutes to play with...

i am a total old Rocker I have to admit right back to 82 when we used to have a ten minute slot at the dinnertime school disco to do some 'serious' headbanging! I have been to see them all, AC/DC, Purple,Saxon,Floyd,Rush, Lee Roth, Van Halen, Def Leppard. I could go on and on. BUT, I do like allsorts and the some of the best driving music I find is some good Old Skool dance music. We used to go to the raves back in the late eighties in a barn at some potato farm near Telford on a Saturday night! Love some classical stuff and almost anything that was good associated with the eighties.
I quite like the track by Duffy but was not to keen on the other two if I'm honest.
The BEST concert I have been to recently................ The Black Dyke Band at Knighton village hall in Wales. THE BEST Brass Band in the world bar none. Some of the best Cornet and French Horn solos you will ever hear!! Told you I liked a varied mix.:D:D

I'm a big fan of RnB and rock music but I have everything from marilyn manson to buffalo springfield..

I tend to download songs rather than get albums etc.. my music taste is very broad and some may say weird....

I have an open plan office at work ( part of the modern working way you know) and there are quite a few lads / girls in their twenties ( no pun there Jay honest ). When it's quiet on a late shift I will put on Virgin Classic Rock on the Internet ( rank has it's privileges). The comments I get back range from, 'turn that crap off' to ' like your old mans music do you'. To be honest I couldn't give a damn. If I like it, I'll listen to it!

Puglife 03-02-08 12:25 AM

lol none taken ;)
I think i have the maturity of someone a decade older than myself.... although my girlfriend wouldn't agree..

Nigel Conniford 03-02-08 09:25 AM

Well I am stuck right back with the 80's electro pop and the modern day it just has to be trance music:D

I have to say Nige I am with you on a lot of that ;), some of the best driving music ( to me anyway ) is some good old trance. My brother who is in the army was stationed out in Germany a few years ago and the amount of dance / trance music they have over there is astounding.

Damn, surrounded by ageing rockers!!!

Going back to my youth a bit, does any one remember Spear of Destiny?

Saw them about 20 times in concert! Absolutely superb!!

I remember when I was 16 going to Rock City in Nottingham with my brother and not shaving for 2 weeks hoping I'd grow some stubble enough to get in which I did, then going to school the next day covered in bruises after a night slam dancing to classics such as Liberator!!

amanda 05-02-08 11:30 PM

Was talking to a chap I used to work with on the railway yesterday who's also well into his music. In fact if there are Acid House fans out there from back in the day then they may remember this songhe wrote/made! One of the biggest acid house songs of the day!
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=MecVgaVMv0I

anyway, he recomended an artist who goes by the name of "burial".
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9hI4bSCy9iE

This song Archangel has to be one of the best and complete songs I've heard in a long time.

If you're into rock, then don't click the link!

If you're into Dubstep, Ambient Trip Hop 2step Garage then you will like it, no, you will love it.

amanda 20-02-08 08:00 PM

That first one is a bit iffy I'll be honest but that's because it was cheesy acid house from 1988 made by a good make of mine, but the 2nd one by "Burial" is stunning.

amanda 20-02-08 08:07 PM

Opps I thought if I had to pick out of the 2 the 1st one was better

can't imagine you tripping on an "E" somehow!!:D:D

Gordon WR 20-02-08 08:10 PM

Coxy, that was a good call, just played all those Burial tracks !! Over the years I've been into all types, for ages the electronic stuff which was all started thanks to Kraftwork and Tangerine Dream then on to German Techno like Members of Mayday, Marusha, Sven Vath, Westbam and DJ Dick etc.
Went through the rock faze many years ago and seen most of the big bands, in fact I was at Hendrix's last 2 gigs, the guy was awesome.

Gordon, you have a superb taste in music! Proper Old Skool techno there!!
Would never have put you down as someone into Westbam or Sven Vath!

I'm sure most of you will no this tune from the annoying Lloyds TSB advert.
Still not convinced as the catchiness is just plain annoying but Sarah Cracknell has an excellent voice.

Went to a Marusha gig a few years ago in Belgium, after that I was into anything on the Low Spirit label which is all decent German techno. Westbam had to be the best.
My only regret is not going to the Berlin Love Parade which would have been awesome but I believe it has finished now. A big shame judging by the music I heard from it over the years.
