Name that wheel!

Ok, can anybody name this wheel? I dont know what its from or offset but I measured the PCD as 4x108..... the centre bore is 78mm and they look ginetta like to me (I was told a while back they possibly were ginetta something).

Its a 14x6 (tyres are 195/70/14 Radial)

Looks like one from a BMW..

Puglife 09-08-09 09:34 PM

It was your rally rep that made me look more closely at these wheels derek.... I'm going to get tyres removed and do some proper measurements i think.
Were early BMWs 4x108?

amanda 09-08-09 09:44 PM

Hmmm looks like a bbs?

Pass on that one not sure. But if the Et is not quite right fit some spacers..

Was thinking BMW, similar fitted to the early 323i.

early BMW's were 4 x 100

Coxy 09-08-09 09:48 PM

could be Ginetta as they were based on Ford (Cortina??) running gear IIRC and they were 4 x 108.

Booty 09-08-09 09:49 PM

Ok not one of those then!!

Puglife 09-08-09 10:00 PM

I'm going to get tyre taken off tomorrow and then measure the PCD and offset properly. The centre bore can be sorted with spigot rings, and if offset is too much i could get spacers but was looking at them as a cheap spare set as they look quite retro :)

I cant find much ginetta information, proably because they are a throw together of ford bits.

wheel

it looks like a compomotive to me;)

quattrokid 11-08-09 11:56 AM

what about an early Lotus Esprit front wheel?

Puglife 11-08-09 01:01 PM

Definately not compomotive and not off a lotus espirt....
They look like a 4stud non split rim version of the porsche BBS wheels on early race cars.

Vernon??

Puglife 11-08-09 02:07 PM

Theres always one coxy and its you lol!

Right some scary numbers for you all....

Wheel size = 14 x 7J
PCD = 4 x 108
Centre Spigot diameter = 78mm
Bolt hole diameter = 17mm
Rim width = 200mm
Offset = +6mm

Wheel has "MADE IN AUSTRIA" stamped on the inner face and 14 x 7J but no manufacturer markings.

Coxy 11-08-09 02:16 PM

that's one big ass centre bore.

Noting comes on my list as being that wide.

Fords are normally 63.4 centre bore, and Peugeot/early Saab/Shitroen are 65.1 and those are the popular non Audi 4 x 108 cars.

ya, that was kinda a sensible post really!!!

Coxy 11-08-09 02:26 PM

hhmm, another thought early Porsche 924 were 14" and 4 x 108, so could be BBS rims for an early 924.

anyway, that's me done for today on the wheel side of things, I got work to do!

Benjamino 11-08-09 02:29 PM

Looks like an old Compomotive to me

Coxy 11-08-09 02:30 PM

Compomotive wouldn't have Austria on the back though. The factory is just down the road from my house!
