Who Do You Support
Well the football season will soon be on us and I know there's a few supporters on here already.
So time to nail your colours to the mast and fess up your team. The only rule is you're only allowed one team so none of this " I support Notts County but my favorite premiership team is Man U/Chelsea blah blah" glory hunting rubbish So to to get the ball rolling Emjay - Nottingham Forest... |
Shrewsbury Town!
|
Sorry, but mine is Chelsea :finger:
|
none. It is a game played by overpaid prima donnas.
|
What's football? :nonod:

See my post above: "It is a game played by overpaid prima donnas." |
so how many overpaid prima donnas you got at Shrewsbury Coxy??
|

all of the are overpaid!! Started going to see them when I was about 8 years old and used to follow them Home and Away but haven't been for about 4 years now. I've spent too much on watching them lose although 1 highlight was back in 1978 (or there abouts) when we beat Man City 2-0 in the FA Cup!! That was when we were old division 3 and they were half decent! |
|
The only true football team!

Funny how you lot have good taste in cars but your teams are shite!
Having an uneasy time being a City fan at the moment. got used to people not knowing who they were or looking at you with a bit of pity if they did. now they look at you like you're a bandwagon jumping jonny-come-lately and hate you. We used to be everyones 2nd team. The only wagon I ever felt like jumping on was the one they used to push whilst shouting "bring out yer dead" :shake: You could always rely on City to screw it up. Didn't matter how crap or small you were, City would let you win. On the way to Maine rd once to see Arsenal my Missus asked if we could leave early to beat the traffic. I thought about it for awhile, "OK, aslong as the score is conclusive" 19 minutes into the game we're 4 nil down. My Wife looked at me and asked "shell I fetch the car?". That was what being a City fan was all about- we used to wallow in the misery of it. Now look at us. If we don't finish top 4 we're rubbish  I used to be happy to finish top 14 if we could beat United, which we often do :finger: |
We still have few weeks of peace don't we ? before the tv becomes inudated with football

I say City will finish top ten. You are forgetting about teams such as Everton, Villa & Tottenham, they will surely throw a spanner in your works. |

also bearing in mind we're busy buying the best Villa and Everton have to offer then i dont even think Villa will finish top 10. Harrys a good manger but hes got no money to spend and it looks like Everton are in the same boat. Robinio was starting to make an effort in the 2nd half of the season- still a bit light weight away from home, but he's going to have to fight for his place now. I dont know what will happen, I hope it'll be a success- I was getting a bit tired of the top 4s dominance of the league and it'd be great to see that change IMO and the point I was making about top 4 finish was not that i was expecting it- but if we dont then peole will love to have a laugh over our foul up when previously no one would have even commented on it ;) |
you'll have to excuse my ignorance on this a bit because I haven't followed football for about the last 3 years now, but what exactly is going on at City then? Have they got some fat cat foreign investor bank rolling them into Europe or something?
Can money really buy a football team? |
Quote:
city were bought out last year by an Abu Dhabi Oil Sheik who is worth over a trillion dollars. we went from owing £60+ million to being the richest club in the world. Thats why we can buy anyone- and thats why every one is starting to hate us! http://www.imscouting.com/global_news_item.aspx?id=2630 Money can buy a team, and it will buy success (look at Blackburn a few years ago) but how soon it'll happen (although they do seem to be giving Hughes time, at the moment) and if its a good thing for football are a matter of debate! |

is any player really worth this:
Quote:
His weekly salary will probably equate to Shrewsbury's entire wage bill for next season! |
Quote:
Like Popstars, they have a unique talent which is in demand and in a free market they're worth what anyone will pay for them. Whether an old man who's a bit injury prone is worth that, well it's not my money:smilewinkgrin: |

"Things Coxy has missed!" |
No, Coxy is the straight answer. Money cant put together a winning team. Tottenham case in point spent bundles of money and achieved the same result as West Ham who spent not alot. Mind you we have had to pay out all the bloody time to the Blades for the Tevez B*llocks!
Football really is a stunning sport to watch but run and played by idiots. |
It's got to be the one and only for me I'm afraid................Accrington Stanley.

Now I have heard and seen some frankly ridiculous things at football matches but I have never heard of extra time sponsorship nor having it announced to the crowd. I wonder how much Accrington sheds paid for that promotional piece of work |

Not Football!
Flaming football again already, a game played by people who get way way overpaid to kick a ball about without any real risk, unlike F1, Bike racing or rallying or several other sports where you can quite literally get yourself killed when things go wrong.
|
There's been deaths in every sport you mentioned there. City still don't use no. 23 as a shirt number .
Whether they're overpaid is a matter of opinion, after all Lewis doesn't exactly do bad. Cant think of many footballers who became a tax-exile at such a young age  |
Stoke City... always has been, always will be. A team is for life, not just for glory.
|
Come on you Irons
