Volvo's dead

Got to the bottom of the road this morning and she died :sad::sad:

Ended up having to push her to the side and call the RAC. Just waiting for them to turn up. Tell you what she's a chuffing heavy lump to push too :shocked:

Not been my week for cars this week. Never mind I might get a Corsa on loan for a few days again :wall:

Nigel Conniford 17-07-09 09:20 AM

Not been my week either.Spent £500 at Powerflow, only for it to blow like fook from downpipe to whats left of hacked and welded connector Audi pipe that was!!

Runs shite,idles high.

Wanna kick the thing.

Just like owning a 480 Turbo again......which takes us back to Volvo!

:wall::finger:

Emjay 17-07-09 10:06 AM

sorry to hear your bad luck fellow guy's

Seems like something has let go big time in the engine so she's gone off to Warrington. Thankfully for me it all gets chalked off to the company and lease firm. I do moan about the tax I have to pay now on the thing now and again but at the moment it all seems worth it. Just hanging around now to see what turns up on the doorstep to fill her shoes for a couple of weeks.

steveb 17-07-09 10:23 AM

thats not good on a 56 plate .....

in the last week we have had a gearbox fail (6 years old) a hyd. pump fail (2 yeras old ) and possibly another gearbox (4 yeras old ) not good for low mileage coaches the highest is 400,000 km !!

20vcqdriver 17-07-09 10:34 AM

Glad its not just me having problems, most reliable car in the family at the moment is Lynns 97' A4 TDI, trouble free and still chugging around at 50mpg and 128k miles ( touch wood ).

steveb 17-07-09 10:53 AM

Managements '96 A4 TDI is behaving at the moment it did need the aircon regassing but other wise fine ." touches wood" 182,000 miles

Emjay 17-07-09 10:59 AM

just taken delivery from National. A 58K plate Vectra "design" (whatever that is) in black. Someones tried to give a lovely go faster stripe all the way down the drivers side with a key

To be fair Lynns A4 needs regassing but in this country the times you need it at 100% efficiency are few and far between so have not bothered...

steveb 17-07-09 11:25 AM

That was my thougts till a couple of weeks ago and the ear bending i got from management because it was not working

ZermattGT 17-07-09 11:43 AM

Sorry for everyones troubles. Yuck.

BW2309 17-07-09 01:22 PM

Bloomin 'eck lads! Evreyone's in the poo!

Sorry to hear about the volley Emjay! Hope it's nothing too serious!

I dearnt say the 90, Golf and A6 all OK for a chnage!!!!! I'm worried now!!!

Booty 17-07-09 03:09 PM

quick...somebody .............touch wood quick. ( not that type of wood either Groomy)

Emjay 17-07-09 08:58 PM

I have just completed a 4 hour + round trip in the Vectra Design.

I have never driven such a bag of shite in all my life. Fighting to keep it in a straight line at any speed, absolutely bog all power, shit wheezy engine.

Why the hell anyone would want a Vectra is beyond me. Absolute pants of a car

steveb 17-07-09 09:45 PM

I thought the same about a zafira i drove on arun last year very much a car for the masses no refinment etc

Richie 17-07-09 10:06 PM

Ive got a mk5 golf tdi as a company car. Its very well specd but I think its cack.

I don't drive it at weekends as its totaly souless.

Emjay 20-07-09 03:07 PM

Update from the Volvo dealer, car needs a new cylinder head. They are not sure what has happened but have ordered one in. Thankfully all covered under warranty but at 55 thousand miles that must be a first.

At least I only have this Vectra until friday now

poopcoupe 20-07-09 03:12 PM

Its your driving mate!:finger:

john johnson 20-07-09 03:13 PM

A customer with a 56 plate lexus 200 that has not done a lot of miles is in having a full engine rebuild....:wierdo:

4v6 20-07-09 03:34 PM

They just dont build em like they used to. :)

steveb 20-07-09 06:48 PM

Turbo on one of our ovlov coaches has just snapped in half 160,000 km, better than that a Scania one went in less than 50,000 miles

ZermattGT 20-07-09 08:42 PM

I'm glad the Volvo is still under warranty Emjay. A cylinder head job runs into real money.
Still a gross inconvenience, rented cars, trips to and from rental and mechanic with a 2nd person driving a 2nd car. Shenanigans.

I say, No more monkeys, send me the organ grinder !

Emjay 23-07-09 08:08 PM

I hear you! My V70 2,4D 163 died in an acident 3 weeks ago:nonod: - But next week I will have a black V70 D5 185 instead:D

Im not sure if I can wait:cool:

Emjay 13-08-09 07:44 PM

Well today I think I blew the turbo, less than 4 weeks after shagging the cylinder head.

Coming home from Southport, hitting the M6, dropped a gear to get her skirts up and lost a shed of power. Warning light came on telling me to get her in to a dealership urgently. She won't pull above 2.5K revs when she normally has plenty of torque.

Oh bugger, another Vectra waits for me :cryin:

steveb 13-08-09 07:55 PM

So relaible these ovlovs sine the last turbo broke we have had a gearbox ecu fail, a compressor destroy itself ,allowing it parts to be sucked up into turbo so destroying that and the intercooler, another has a bizzar lecy fault where by it will only run for about 5 secs then stall been with the dealers 3 weeks now no sign of it returning yet, suspension failure on another and finaly for this month exhaust manifold gaskets not bad for coaches that have done less than 180,000km and are only just 4 years old !!

Might be as simple as a boost leak or hose popped off, have you dared to open the bonnet to look?!!

Isimmo 14-08-09 08:29 AM

It's 09:30 Emjay... Scrappy's been open an hour now... I assume it's gone....

Booty 14-08-09 09:05 AM

It's a company car Dave....you just don't open the bonnet yourself on a company car. Shame on you.

Lofty 14-08-09 02:30 PM

Moneypit is sat on the drive awaiting replacement clutch Master and slave cylinders :cryin:
There surely can't be much left to replace on her......or will it be like the Forth bridge of once you've finished, you start again...?????:wall:
