Le Mans 24hrs 2009!

Thought I'd share a few of my photos taken at this year's Le Mans! Bloody Peugeot won this year though with two cars, Audi third and Aston Martin Lola came forth. A bit disappointed with Audi! :grr:

These guys were our neighbours camping, they were 3 motorsport engineering uni students, who had bought this 740 estate for £220 and painted in Gulf colours! Sadly they blew the diff doing burnouts on the Friday, and spent the next 2 days trying to fix it.... Still don't know how they got home!

Looks like great fun Gordon, never been for the cars, been for the bikes several times though. Think we may have a try in a couple of years.

Le Mans Museums: Musée Automobile de la Sarthe – 442 Rue de Laigné, Le Mans, France, FR
Tel: +33 0243 72 72 24
Located on the edge of the Bugatti and Sarthe circuits, this museum is a car-lovers' paradise. Exhibits cover everything from the early history of motor racing through to what makes a car engine tick. The Musée Automobile de la Sarthe also includes a superb collection of 150 vehicles dating back as far as the late 19th century, including racing cars connected with some of the biggest stars past and present. Other attractions include audio-visual shows, a simulated high-speed track and a chance to walk the track.
Le Mans museum open: daily, June to September - 10:00 to 19:00; October to December and March to May - 10:00 to 18:00
Le Mans museum admission: charge

Heading that way on our way back home so wondered if its going to play into my hands or whether driving down the Mulsanne Straight will be the highlight.

cant wait eitherway.

That quattro was next to us on our camp site, looked pretty good but I hope his paintwork's in good nick otherwise he'll have fun taking the stickers off!

I thought 'Mad Friday" was a bit boring this year to be honest.. Gendarme everywhere.

The museum is well worth a visit, as it's all changed. A big revamp in April with loads of stuff to drool over, including some good driver profiles and lots of previous winning cars.

quattrokid 21-06-09 05:15 PM

thanks Gordon.... how long roughly would it take to look around the museum? ta

Gordon WR 21-06-09 05:29 PM

We spent a couple of hours there, but Ben was on the simulator for ages !!!

Save Ferris 21-06-09 05:55 PM

Its only about 8 euros to get in aswell, so well worth it if you're there. You can park around the back for free aswell!

quattrokid 21-06-09 08:27 PM

:cool::tup:

thanks for the info.

Gordon WR 22-06-09 03:38 PM

I bet you spend more time drooling over the models of the pits complex than over the real cars Rich !! I think there are four or five displays showing the pits over the years complete with all the cars, marshals, mechanics and photographers etc etc.

quattrokid 22-06-09 09:04 PM

 Gordon.

Cant wait to see the museum. hands in pockets though, cant afford to indulge more models!!:ihih::ihih:
