Trying to find some history....
I've recently purchased a 1982 Audi 80 CD 5S.
It's in immaculate condition with a genuine 28,000 mile on the clock with MOT's to prove. And of course, it has the superb 5 pot engine in! OK, that's the easy bit, here's the bit where my history looks a bit faded. The chap who bought the car went over to Audi in Germany to collect 2 identical cars for himself and his business partner. The log book states that the vehicle was imported in 1982 and the vin# relates to a 1982 car WAVZZZ812Cxxxxxxx. Both cars were then driven back to the UK, so I can presume that they bought the cars new from Germany. Both cars imported were RHD models, so I can only presume they may have been special order. What I can't find out was how many Audi 80 CD 5S were actually sold in the UK, else why would someone go to the lengths of going to Germany to collect 2. Does anyone have any production figures relating the the Audi 80 CD and more importantly, RHD models?? I've trawled the internet but once again, I have drawn a blank! |

I know someone did that on the S2 forum to get numbers of S2's and RS2's registered in the UK. Myabe be worth giving them a buzz, but they may only be able to tell me what is left. |
Or a long shot your local dealer

28,000miles!! Amazing, a Typ81 with a 5 banger - you wouldn't get me out from behind the wheel!

This one's a keeper but I can feel the lure of new rims and a set of springs for this one!

.
Coxy!
In the event you are still needing info for this CD 5S mate... If you call Audi UK they can tell you the production figures and amount imported year by year. Shame that even they cant tell me how many Coupes in Lime there were made total!Bastids!! Steve |

Dealers.... ONLY IN MY EXPERIENCE , do not give a toss about old cars, to them it is about $$$$$'s or £££££'s call it what you like.
Finding someone who still likes the older stuff, and cares to share, is a rare thing, if you meet one, marry them into your family, so they stay close to your heart. |

I was trying to get some info about my BMW a couple of weeks ago and the woman said the usual stock answer "sorry, can't help you", but then she said "ring this chap up on Monday, he may help..". So I rung him up and what he didn't know wasn't worth knowing! I couldn't get through at first so left a message, not expecting anything, but he rung back 20 minutes later and told dug out the cars entire history, build date, service records, previous owners, previous number plate, etc etc!! There's probably one at each garage like that, you, know the sort, over enthusiastic old boy who can list every part by part number alone, and knows what the weather was like on the day they lauched the M3 Evo. Just gotta find one at an Audi garage now! |

They were a 'stock' model used to be a reasonable number in this area at that time. I would like to think Audi UK could tell you......... trouble is they really do not care about the older cars.... you know the ones that got them to where they are now !
