Hi all,

Another piece im after, I want a replacement rubber door strip for my 1985 Audi 80 - you all know the one by now!

Its the rubber trim that runs the length of the door, and its for the passenger side rear.

Many thanks in advance,

Hi Sie, I've got one of those, but not sure on the condition; will have to check at the weekend, but if someone else offers one, go for it, in case my spare is not perfect. Cheers.

Hi Sie, I found the one I have. It is in good condition, but came off of my late pre-facelift Sport. I've compared it to the one on my early 80q & they are different, but then it is slightly different (but close) to that of my facelift Sport, so I hope it might do the job. I have taken a pic & attached) it to try and help. Why did they keep changing them!
Cheers. G

Hi Sie!
Ah; the dreaded outside trim. early ones were much more resiliant, these later ones rusted from the inside out. Removing them is difficult, best as a cheese-wire job, so most get bent & as soon as that happens they're useless.
Anyway, all of that you probably know & it doesn't help much because I've not got one detached , but I have just remembered I've got a set of doors that have got that type on. I'll have a look and post a pic in a few days to see if it is any good? :). Cheers. G

Hello Sie, Well I found one. It's reasonable, but is plain black, but I think yours may have the 'chrome' insert in the top part? I've not bothered to photo yet as if that's the case this one aint no good. Also where the bottom of the two metal strips runs through it, if you look very carefully, you can see it's starting to bubble slightly under the plastic; so may be no better than yours. Cheers. G.

Ah, sounds great!

Well, mine dont have the chrome inserts, and their plain black. Also, all mine are starting to bubble where the metal runs through - so yours should fit a treat, and not look out of place!

The reason I want one is because ive recently had quite a big dent taken out of the back door, but when it happened (whatever it was - before I owned the car - quite like to know!), it not only messed the door up but also the strip. so now the doors fine but the strip still makes it appear bad still.

Presume you wouldnt mind parting with another piece from your box of tricks?

If not, send me a PM and we can get something sorted.

As ever, many thanks!
