A decision to make.

Okay, as i mentioned on the TT thread i need to make a decision. I will keep this short but would appreciate peoples views on this.

So, i gave the 2.6 coupe (Stormtrooper) to my grandson JTCOUPE a couple of years ago and bought a 3.2TT, nothing has been done with the coupe as JT doesn't have a lot of time and no garage. The coupe needs a lot of work now.

The TT just needs it's new wings and sill trims fitting and painting etc. This is mainly due to me being the type of person who hates corrosion repairs as they don't last on those areas.

The TT is worth far far more than the coupe even without any work being done !

So, here is the decision i need to make, do i sell the TT to make room for the coupe and start work on it ? Or do i just do the TT and forget about the coupe ?

I would like to hear what people on this forum think.

Many thanks,
Bruce

luapkram 06-10-20 12:34 PM

Just do them both Bruce 👍🏼

mikes2 06-10-20 12:54 PM

My thoughts - get the TT done first.

Once that's complete, the Coupe beckons. With the TT sorted, there's no pressure on progress with the Coupe.

BackintheFold 06-10-20 02:12 PM

Get one done-whichever one that can be done prior to the end of November (when it is then too cold and dark)-then decide if the other is worth doing.
To me, that sounds like the TT is your first choice. The Coupe sounds like a labour of love that will take more than 7 weeks.

vorsprung durch technik 06-10-20 04:28 PM

Do the TT first, will be an easier job to tackle and think about the coupe later. Is the coupe the one with the loud body kit?

Davids 06-10-20 05:26 PM

Keep both, get a cover for the coupe, do the TT, finish one

:lol::lol::lol::lol: You lot are going to get me in bother !:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I don't think either would get done in 7 weeks.

Prob's 7 years for the coupe

Hi Mark

Yep the coupe with the body kit, it draws a lot of attention, not the "WHAT THE FOOK IS THAT KIND" but the "DO YOU WANT TO SELL IT KIND"

I would love to, I have been looking at premises, needless to say down our way the cost is just horrendous.

The Memmsaab has put a stop to any more being purchased here till the one in the garage is done and sold.

May have to sell my Coupe if I have to get a different vehicle for work as well.

It is worth doing Mark, but the hard bit for me would be parting with the TT, there has to be a solution somewhere seeing as the response so far is keep both.

It will be back to four cars again :lol::lol:

I remember the coupe, remember when it was up for sale and it's price before you got it. Well you know me, i like originality or oem++ a nice set of wheels, but appreciate some love period mods.

If it was me i'd keep the TT because it's top of the range and a bit special. But that's just me. Maybe somebody might want the 80 Coupe of you?

No new job as yet but I have been doing building works, etc and I find humping bags of cement, sand and timber in the Coupe isnt doing it any good really, so an estate might be on the cards. Although Mark has talked me out of it at the moment:tup:

Yep, still want to paint it properly, just got to finish the V8 first.
Drove to Grays in Essex last Friday and it didn't miss a beat, 100 mile each way, to get a new front end for my daughters Sirocco .

Don't want it to go, have to see .

Like you I would love to keep them all, lack of parking is my problem.

It's a lovely car and i genuinely think you'd regret it. The other thing is, in red they look special - especially shod with Boleros but thats just my idea of perfection. Just buy a beat up cheap van.

Swapping front wings on the TT isn't a big job though - a couple of hours per side should have it done. I haven't done sill covers on one, so I can't comment on those. Could you get get the wings painted first, so that all the edges are covered properly? And maybe the sill covers too.

I've done the passenger side wing on mine, that took me an afternoon because I've never done one before and had to drill some fasteners out, but it wasn't a massive job. I have a replacement drivers side wing to go on, but I really should sort some MOT stuff first.

I had to re - read that to see what you 'might' have been laughing at :lol::lol::lol:

So putting on a Brucie mind, it reads;...........Daves been humping bags of cement in the coupe :yikes:
but thinks an estate might be more comfortable - however marks not sure?:lol::lol::lol:

:tup::tup::tup:

About the "plant pot" i've lost the plot, not sure what you mean?

I agree with you

I think it will have to go into a body shop though because the colour isn't straight forward, you can't even get a touch up from Audi because it's a mixed colour

The sill trims are bolt on, bet it's not as easy as it sounds though.

Hope all goes well for you with yours
