B3 mats
Hello!
My original mats are too rare for day to day use. I’m toiling to find decent B3 mats. Are the B4 mats the same? :) |
Shame you never mentioned earlier as the rubber ones in the coupe are out the B4 and you could have tried them 👍🏼👍🏼. The passengers side is a pretty good fit, but drivers not so much, but they are from an Auto
|
Good idea well presented, wish I’d thought of it earlier!
D’oh! :) |
Ive got a set of carpet mats in the loft, i cant remember when i got them or what they were out of but i can send you some pics and try them in the 90 if u want. They are genuine audi, think they are grey(ish) though. Not mint but if you want them for every day...?
The rubber set are properly durable, ive had a set for over 10 years and with regular non agressive cleaning / dose of vinyl and rubber care they look spot on still. |
CJP got some recreation's made last year i think, trouble is not seen him on here for a while.

OK, here we go...
I cannot for the life of me remember how I came about these, normally I have a recollection of searching for and finding the car in a scrap yard and getting other bits at the same time - I wouldn't have just gone for a set of mats . Leads me to think they were a work find and I've brought them home and added them to a pile. Anyway, I digress... http://www.classic-audi.co.uk/forum/...pictureid=8990 They are in fact a legit graphite set from a B3 - possibly a coupe as they are a subtly different shape than the rubber set I have. http://www.classic-audi.co.uk/forum/...pictureid=8989 They do however follow the contours of the floor nicely and cut in around the sides as you can see. The passenger ones also fit nicely. The metal reinforced holes line up with the screws in the floor. The not so good bits - The blackness has worn off most of the Audi rings, the drivers one obviously has seen a lot of use and is wearing very thin under the heel. It hasn't holed yet, but without adding something underneath it may well do soon? The backing is a kind of rubber over a hessian type material, it is through to the hessian. Having said that they are a rare and complete set, the right colour and the binding around the edges is all good. Let me know what you think :) |

I can formally confirm that B3 and B4 mats are different.
Bought a brand new set of genuine VAG mats in light grey, drivers fits, rears are the same but the passenger front is narrower on the B4. Anybody want a set of mats????? |

Where did you get them Duffy ? I wouldn't mind some coupe mats but don't know if they are the same or not.
 |
Last set from an online auction, they are marked on the packaging for an 80 from 92 on, they are genuine VAG so I'm assuming that's correct, whether there's a difference between saloon and Coupe mats I don't know, however I'd expect that to be made clear on the packaging if there was.

Coupe may be a bit longer not sure, but as you say packaging should tell, thanks mate. |

Can't find my pics of my rear mats which are grey, my fronts are cream. Is it just the light that makes them look different to light grey? How much are they posted? Cheers Mark.

I’ll do a photo in sunshine later, they are light grey and look good. There’s a part number on them which I’ll post later.
They may well be coupe mats as the fit is quite different from my own mats. |
Apologies, did remember to take the photo but then forgot I'd taken it.
Old age doesn't come etc etc. https://i.imgur.com/AMLkH0w.jpg https://i.imgur.com/n0xUahr.jpg they look cream on my screen but they are a clear light grey in the real world. :) The part number is 863 VAG 151 4CL and listed as Audi 80 01/92 on. |
Any more on this?

There was a similar thread to this about 12 months or so ago IIRC and I mentioned that there was a firm not too far from me that does bespoke car mats and I was willing to make some enquiries but as there was no interest from anyone I didn't persue it :( Carl |
Did you not get some for yourself Carl ?
And yep, been far too long. |
Quote:
Well I’m up for it if you still have an inclination |

But what about the mats  |

A bit of a distance from you D but the firm is called 'A Cut Above' and they are in Lancaster, 01524 35660. As seems to be happening quite a lot recently they appear to have junked their website in favour of a Facebook page |

And ironically I’ve just deleted farcebook I’ll give them a call Thanks, obliged! :) |
