1982 Porsche 928 Red

nice to see that classic audis are not the only german cars that look super cool . .

:arf:

Is it just me or it looks ultra ugly?

john johnson 10-01-14 05:04 PM

They are an acquired taste , I don't actually get the Porsche thing one bit

Hanuman 10-01-14 05:13 PM

The butt end is about as good looking as the Jensen. But I do like them generally.
Wouldn't have one, though, as there are so many other machines ahead in the list.

pimpdriver 10-01-14 05:45 PM

awesome cars.

john johnson 10-01-14 05:49 PM

I walk past loads and loads at car shows and the dealers are round the corner but they never make me go I want I want . I respect them ( a bit ) but they never float my boat ... Very odd

lefthooker 10-01-14 06:39 PM

Me neither. Probably the least desirable of all the Porsches and with an auto box, what were they thinking :wierdo: Just horrible.

sinbin5t 10-01-14 06:56 PM

Sorry for me that is totally YUK :shake:

I quite like the 924's to be fair

I think they look good, but I've never been keen on them otherwise. I used to service a 924 for somebody a few years ago, and I can't say I was all that impressed. 4 speed manual, VW LT engine, not much fun to be honest. In fact, the LT van I had probably drove better and was more of a laugh to drive.

4.7 V8 in a relatively small car. What's not to like ?

did the early 2.0 924's use pretty much the same engine as the C2 Audi 100's?

Geordie 11-01-14 05:13 PM

Agree with most of the guys above - that just makes my head sore.

geneandbolly 12-01-14 11:15 PM

I think the early 928s look the best, much like the XJ-S. They got uglier with each facelift/tweak.
This is my favourite spec 928, 1978 in dog turd brown.

The Jaguar XJ-S was another car that got uglier with each facelift/tweak. Much nicer in it's 1975 flavour.

Agreed. The early SD1 in Tumeric Yellow is a Semi in waiting. Steed and Cowley can't both be wrong. Nor Ian Hendry in Return Of The Saint. In Fact, that SD1, MOC 229P was used in all three programmes (with a bit of insulation tape to change the reg number to MOO 229R, yep, really :wierdo: ), plus an episode of The Sweeney from Series 4. Leyland Cars got their money's worth out of that SD1.

Tumeric Yellow SD1. Semi time.

I used to run a TWR kitted V12 as a daily years ago :wierdo: identical to this:

Gambit in the New Avengers had a red one identical to the one pictured, the pre H.E. cars are definitely the ones to have.
