The end of an era, bye bye Woolworths
Seems a shame that a high street household name is going to gone forever.
The only place I knew where I could walk in, buy a doormat, sweets, a couple of cheap DVD's, a drink, some sewing needles, wonderweb for turning up me trousers and a replacement zip! What other kind of shop sells that stuff? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7751064.stm |
Yep, bye...
|
.
Yes,I,for one, will miss your eclectic music section-and always at such incredibly competitive prices to boot!
Well,at least the counter jollies invariably found saying "nah sorry no stoooock" will be able to keep McDonalds in emergency staff.. BAH!:p |

Well I feel it's confession time I think it's my fault that Wollies has gone down the pan. As when I was about 8 years old me and our gang stole yes stole a bar of chocolate from our local Wollworths Store. I think people will hate me for ever. I think I'll call Jeremy Vine tomorrow to see if I can be pardoned live on the air.

I bought my first compact cassettes in Woolies - Rolling Stones - Rolled Gold (double cassette) - 1986 - a whopping £11.99! An educated choice at the age of 9 I think.
Chaps - I don't want to be all gloomy but what with the current economic climate, the fact that Argentina's downfall was getting rid of their gold reserves in the 1940's...we're all doomed! But seriously it's not looking good...so...anybody want to see my 'lifecycle of a bubble' - boom and bust graph??? |
you were ripped off cassette . im trying to pay off m place in spain
|
Sparks, "This town Ain't big enough for the both of us" ;)
For those of you are too young.................... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=g3B0L4...eature=related |
I am aware of that song.... So yes £11.99 was a lot of a double compact cassette in 1986...maybe it was £8.99??? What a shame that most music between 1980 - 1990 was so terrible - don't you think?
|
With a comment like that, theat fliud has just gone up to £200 per litre
The Eighties was the best ever decade for music :D |
...I meant terribly good... :D
|
Your PM box is full Christian :p
|
That happens too much - I will empty it!
|
Thankyou sir :p

1979, Message in a bottle by the police. 79p still got it and the price label is still on it. Bet that doesn't happen much nowadays, what with barcodes and shelf edge labels.
