Friday night

What's everyone doing with their friday night?
I'm sat in on my own, everyone's out and the student loan company seem to think I'm not allowed any money for another couple of weeks. :wall:

Just wanted a bit of a rant really but feel free to keep me company if you're in the same / similar boat.

Emjay 29-10-10 08:40 PM

been painting walls a lovely white colour. There's loads of wall and ceiling but now it's done and it time for a drop of alcohol.

You are not alone

Coxy 29-10-10 08:45 PM

Catching up on TV I missed last night.

Just watching "An idiot abroad"!

Superb!

Then Celebrity Juiced!

steveb 29-10-10 08:48 PM

Watching New Tricks

SkinnyMan88 29-10-10 08:49 PM

Nice to know I'm not alone :D

I might have to watch An Idiot abroad in a bit, I forgot a new one came on last night. As much as I don't really like Gervais, Carl is amazing.

Audi Derek 29-10-10 08:49 PM

Which season you on?

ZermattGT 29-10-10 08:55 PM

Just got off work, flogged as we spent the day cleaning the workshop set to stern.
Stopped at the fav pub for a tall glass of Ayinger Weiss beer, and now I'm home waiting for my baby and considering dinner plans.

Tommorow we take delivery of a spare 1989 Volvo 780 Bertone. This car is going to be a donor car to improve her white 780 ( daily driver).

I do love a drop of cloudy german wheat beer :arf:. Audi and a Volvo? A man of impeccable taste all round I think :D

Gouldy 29-10-10 09:11 PM

sat in a place called Newbridge in Ireland on work :(, just watched a movie called zombieland on my laptop

just thinking about the job i am doing and how i cannot wait for the next two weeks to go by so i can book up my honeymoon (i got married in april, luckily i have an understanding wife)

SkinnyMan88 29-10-10 09:12 PM

You know the worst part? I don't even have any beer :yikes:

I do have some of the old Sailor Jerry's but it seems a waste as the new stuff is crap and the old stuff fetches silly money now :shake:

Why can't we have daylight at night so I could at least wash my car or something? A garage would be nice.

David Small 29-10-10 09:13 PM

Sampled a few ales earlier, chicken and stir fry supper and Robert Plant on BBC electric proms sounded great - wish we'd listen to all of it to be honest.

Oh and you are never alone on here fella

What did you think to Zombieland? Quite a good film I thought.

That's got to make time drag a bit, having that to look forward to!

Gouldy 29-10-10 09:16 PM

I know what you mean, when I did my year in industry I did a few months of working away from home (home was newcastle, working near salsibury). 10 days on (12 hours a day), 4 days back up north. Hard work but on the odd days we finished early I didn't know what to do with myself lol.

It was actually the most enjoyable part of the year work-wise though, got to play with and maintain tanks all day

And yes, I agree, she is very hot!

Gouldy 29-10-10 09:28 PM

uber hot!!!

i dont mind working away at all as i can earn more in a week than what i normally earn in a month, its just THIS job i am currently doing, the whole thing is a complete shambles and my workload is WAY to much ,

I do welding/coating & ultrasonic inspection, at the moment its gas mains i am working on

SkinnyMan88 29-10-10 09:36 PM

Yeah my pay trebled, which was nice.

I worked for BAE Systems, a lad I worked with in manufacturing was looking into ultrasonic / x-ray inspection in the last few weeks of manufacturing before my next placement, I found it all pretty interesting.

Is that 780 a 2 door version of the 760??? Vaguely remember them from the "Daily Express World Cars" magazine when I was about 14.

Pics please!

Gouldy 29-10-10 09:41 PM

yes there is a lot of work in ultrasonics, especially in a new method called "phased Array" the money the technicians are commanding is mind blowing!

SkinnyMan88 29-10-10 09:46 PM

I wanted to get into welding before I started my degree, I heard welders on all the high tolerance stuff get paid a pretty penny too.

Snoopafella 29-10-10 09:46 PM

Been at work for 4 hours.

Puglife 29-10-10 10:43 PM

Been designing more components and a dry sump kit, having a cheeky beer and watching a movie. 15mins till I tick over another year on this wonderful planet. Such an interesting life I lead!

SkinnyMan88 29-10-10 10:56 PM

Do you design components as a living or for your own cars? What you been designing in particular?

And happy birthday for in 5 minutes time :D

Couperman 29-10-10 10:59 PM

Was stocktaking at work until 9 o'clock. Cup of tea and a read of the newspaper. Now catching up on Ebay, Facebook and here.

Puglife 29-10-10 11:00 PM

My own cars but also for remanufacturing NLA parts..... Will be working in engineering/design in new job.

Cheers... old age beckons!

I think I'm in the wrong game. How does one get into this line of work? Apprenticeship I presume?

Gouldy 30-10-10 05:26 PM

just become a coded welded, the industry is VERY clicky with some people who are qualified bearly getting work, however once you get started its a nice number,

if you are good with the understanding of ultrasonics i would recommend doing phased array as that is the future of NDT (no distructive testing)
