although not used them..... yet ;)

mattp 08-07-08 11:27 AM

Coxy, are you lowering your 100 and if so which parts supplier are you using?

I am thinking a subtle 2" drop, the rear end is similar to a bug so this is no problem but what of the front springs?

:D

Coxy 08-07-08 11:32 AM

not lowering the 100. Gotta keep 1 car stock!

No need to lower the arse end of my 100 anyway as it's got the usual saggy spring syndrome so sits nicely low anyway.

moomin 10-11-08 06:27 PM

MSW are out of stock on Jamex Coupe springs I've just found out after ordering from them :(

crisarc 10-11-08 07:09 PM

Try the avo web site , adjustable shocks /lowering kits, seems to be competativly priced also

amanda 10-11-08 07:52 PM

I hope those prices are for 4 and not each!

Scarlet 11-11-08 08:02 PM

Anyone give me links to adjustable ones for the t44 avant?

I want to lower it but also want to put big wheels on so want adjustables so i cna mess about with the look.

Got to be full sets though

amanda 11-11-08 08:26 PM

Not sure about your's Scarlet but koni and bilstiens do adjustable shocks but they wont be cheap

Scarlet 11-11-08 09:08 PM

I foudn koni non adjustable ones for £500 but wanted the adjustables if i can

vag80 28-11-08 09:03 PM

Try supersport suspension ther made by spax . www.venommotorsport.com . they do stuff for old audi's
i've got a kit on my Audi 80 which is very good

Donald_MacIver 31-01-09 04:57 PM

Can't beat the old fleabay for bargains, i picked up a full set of brand new boxed Spax springs for my B3 80 sport for £19.99 as they were new old stock! They really lowered the back end nicely, and raised the front a bit so the car now sits level :)

ChrisG 18-02-09 05:18 PM

Just tried getting some replacement Eibach springs for my Sport, current ones are quite rusty and deruster/paint etc to redo adds up to at least £60 + my efforts....thought I'd check out new prices.
Call back today from Eibach UK, discontinued about 4 years ago BUT they would make me a set for about £240...... EACH SPRING
Managed to pass on this !

vag80 18-02-09 06:41 PM

Venonmotorsport list lowering springs for b2 80's,they do AVO for about £73 or G-MAX £83.20 they are 40mm drop

ChrisG 18-02-09 07:37 PM

Thanks, the Eibach are 40mms, have a softish ride, much more forgiving than the factory items but not too roly poly either !

b2_sport 23-04-09 10:10 PM

Motorsport world do some Weitec Coilovers for a B2 Saloon. Anyone got any experience of these?

Coxy 23-04-09 10:13 PM

First I've heard of coilovers being available for the B2, although that said, I haven't gone looking for them. Would like to know anyone who's running a set on their car though.

b2_sport 23-04-09 10:19 PM

I have mailed MSW regarding these coilovers part number: W-23210301, to find out if they fit a 1986 B2 Sport.

Manufacturer : Weitec Suspension
Category : Weitec Ultra GT Kits
Sub-category : Weitec UGT - Audi
Application : 80/90 Saloon 1.3-1.8 8/79>8/86 (60/60mm)
Product Code: W-23210301
Details : Chassis type 81.
Lowering front/rear = 60/60mm.

Price: £277.96 inc VAT
Delivery: £13.50

Maybe someone here can tell if these will fit?

Coxy 23-04-09 10:20 PM

sounds like they should.

ChrisG 24-04-09 07:25 AM

umm, my Eibach are 40mms lower and personnally I think that is low enough, however....... I have heard from a couple of Club Audi people that the Weitec are good quality.
IIRC Koni used to do them, or maybe just a complete kit, but no longer available according to Koni UK!

b2_sport 05-06-09 02:47 PM

I emailed Motorsport world last month twice and never got no reply. So I rang them and asked them about the Weitec's for type 81. They told me that they are available but will take 4-5 weeks to arrive.

Coxy 05-06-09 02:52 PM

I had to wait about 4 weeks for my Koni's to arrive from them.
Don't think they keep them on the shelves so it maybe that they are made to order?

tommyboy 09-06-09 01:42 PM

Making your own coilovers???

Has anyone tried making their own coilovers using the kits from Demon tweeks, if so how do you know what springs to use?? Also seeing as the idea is to lower the car potentially 60 -100mm do you need to use shorter inserts? and if that is the case - which inserts and what do I ask for??
I have the skills to convert them I am just missing the understanding, can someone help??:wall:

BryFlyinBy 27-05-10 10:30 PM

Also while I'm doing my homework - I'm starting to look at upgrading the brakes on my early GT5S. The rear has drum brakes either side of the beam, I'm sure I read somewhere on here MK2 Golf GTI disk brakes with 4x100 stud pattern will fit my beam - Is this true?? Please can someone help with this matter too:tup:??

Hi

I have been thinking about doing this, yes you will need shorter inserts.
Have a look on venom motorsports web site, they list all sorts of suspension from different manufactures.

Springs are tricky, I think I read somewhere 8" to 10" for the length, the rates are the hardest bit I think to work out, maybe 280lbs/in to 350lbs/in for road/track day cars, might be worth asking Demon Tweeks for advice as I may be out.

Compbrake also supply coilover kits and top mounts.

Hi

Yes they will bolt on, I looked into this but I wanted to use the aluminium mk4 golf calipers, (hand brake is internal, better design) but i'm not sure what handbrake cables you need to use with either caliper tho, I think the later 86,87 year GTs came with rear discs, maybe these cables will work?.

Got to be full sets though

You'll struggle getting any sizable wheels on a type 44 avant. the rear arches are extreemly restrictive, so the widest you can go is about 7.5 i think.

I lowered my type 44 200q Avant with a supersport kit from http://www.potn.co.uk/ they seem pretty good, and they were only £225 for four springs and four shocks. After fitting, the wallow reduced considerably. It lowers the car 45mm on the front and 35mm on the back. This is the lowest the back will go with standard arches. I like the nose down stance the kit gives the car too.

Good luck with your quest!
