They ruin 2WD too...
We've got a 58 2.0TDi Passat at the moment, (S2 shinanigans etc) and it's pants... Generally, a nice car, but in the snow and ice, with 17inch rims and 245/40/17Zr's it's worse than useless... Everything on our drive is 4WD, from the 'offroader' to the S2, via the quattros, so traction against torque is never an issue... The Passat is the complete reverse... Pull away in first, wheelspin and 'the devils triangle' on the dash... Short shift to second... wheelspin and 'the devils triangle' on the dash... Bugger... Short shift to third..... wheelspin and 'the devils triangle' on the dash... Pants... Same move with S2.... Pull away in first, slight wheelspin and correction as car works out where best to apply traction (the arse, as it's being nailed)... And, no fuss, away we go... Over double the horsepower of the Passat and a 1/3rd more torque, all deployed successfully through 205/60/15's. Frightening, is the only description in the difference.... |
Why the hell do they fit 245's on a Passat from the factory. It does not need tyres that big surely?

Try playing the "see how long you can keep the light on" game. Plus i'll give you 50p if you need to get replacement tyres on it before it goes back ! Teach em a lesson.

Nearly.... Sorry.... 235/45/17's
It's not a car.... It's a toboggan… ZR rated too.... Ideal for the Nurburgring at +28deg in July... |
