Okay, guys...
Isimmo - with all due respect, fishy or otherwise, to anyone (inc. myself) who is reading your comments as an outsider, none really offer any clarity in so far as defining the length of ownership AND daily usage for each of the Audi's that you have either owned/sold/etc or still own, and as such, corrections have been made which I feel would be fair for all...end of! Vorsprung durch technik - whilst I agree that your record is indeed 14yrs (as opposed to the 13yrs I had previously stated, sorry!), having revisited your initial comment (P3 #25), I note that you sold the Audi purchased in 2001 shortly after restorations in 2008 and that you then replaced it with an upgraded model, so again, corrections have been made which I feel would be fair for all...nice try! :hand:  joe90 - thanks for popping in. Looks like you missed my earlier comment with regards to buying and selling the same car, so in order to answer your question: regardless of whether you have purchased the same car over or different cars within the set period, I am treating the length of ownership as, in your case, two separate transactions, therefore, the longest that you have owned your Audi (if purchased 5yrs ago) is 5 years; this has been added to the tally-up list. |

:hand:  So my longest time of owning the silver 2.6 avant was from 2/1/2001 until April 2009 when it was sold, there was an overlap of ownership as the Volcano black Avant threw a mahoosive spanner in the works. not being an intended purchase. So there was an overlap and 14 years of continued ownership and driving of a 2.6 avant. The black avant has been owned since 9/2/2009 so nearly 6 years so that needs amending in your list. Then Theres the 2000 A4 purchased 5/6/2006 so thats 9 years this june.:rock: I'll leave in in your capable hands Leggy.:ihih: |
vorsprung durch technik
Okay, after much deliberation with regards to your silver 2.6 Avant, this is how I see the situation: 1. The fact remains that you sold the vehicle after 8yrs 3mths of ownership. 2. Overlaps of ownership occur with every vehicle that is sold & bought, and yet, regardless of ‘when’ the log book is processed by the DVLA (whether this be weeks or months after its sale), the date of the new ownership is ‘mostly’ shown as being the date that they the new owner purchased the vehicle. 3. Personally, I have never heard of a log book with two owners, so therefore I can only assume that the vehicle in question was then loaned to you for a further 6yrs under its new ownership/name. Now here’s the thing: Even if this new ownership was in ‘your’ name, you sold the vehicle, meaning, your initial transaction of owning the vehicle first time around had ended, and in turn a new transaction commenced. To further clarify this, the number of previous owners that is stated on the vehicle log book reflects the number of times the vehicle has been 'purchased' (regardless of it being say two different persons, or the same person buying said vehicle), in other words, the DVLA don't say "well he/she has owned the vehicle before so we won't include them again!". Therefore, and in fairness to everyone else that has participated, the longest time that you in fact owned/used the vehicle was 8yrs 3mths, with the shortest time being 6yrs of ‘possibly owning’ and using the vehicle; this being over two transactions lasting 14yrs or so. I’m sorry if this is not the outcome you were expecting, but unfortunately, I cannot break the rules for one without breaking them for all! Corrections have now been made to the list, and your other vehicles have also been added as requested. |

on a twist of longest time driving an Audi my very first Audi - a tornado red CQ I bought in Aberdeen at the age of 19 I used to drive from Aberdeen to my parents house in Weymouth.
Actually did it for a weekend in early 2000 to 'drop' a friend off at the british rally (her dad was Juha Kankunen's co driver!). 10 hours non stop (save for fuel) on the way there and 12 hours back. Distinctly recall not having aches or pains and thought the seats were incredibly comfy. All in all just under 1,300 miles in two days |
Daveymaclad
Nice twist there, that sure is a lot of miles... BUT how long did you own AND drive said Audi? |
daily

currently still using my 200q avant owned since 2004 , used daily since except when being remodelled, mileage 203k
|
i've owned my 2.2 '89 coupe since 10.98 its now done 267,000 ,used daily had lpg fitted on 02.01. been extremely reliable & durable, though i now only do 5k/yr i could manage without it.

For the record
Not going to break any records but all of these have been or were daily drivers
In my 19th year of classic Audi ownership 1996-2001 - Audi 80 1.8E - Bamboo Metallic - covered 42,096 miles with me 1999-2006 - Audi 80 1.6SE - Laser Red - covered 64,074 miles with me 2006-2007 - Audi 80 2.0 Sport SE - Grey Metallic - covered 2,332 with me ( car was a dog !) 2007 to date - Audi 80 Sport 16 Valve - Tornado Red - 37,000 miles with me so far 2011-2014 - Audi 80 2.0 Sport SE - Alpine White - covered 14,178 miles with me (Had a company car for much its time with us) 2014 to date - Audi Coupe 16 Valve - Kingfisher Blue - covered 6,500 with me so far |
I know this won't beat any records but I've owned and driven my 200q since 2004, but as an interesting side note it was bought by DeBeers in 1991 and used by my grandfather as his company car, he retired in 1994 and bought the car from them and it was his til it was passed on to me, so technically I've known the car since it was new.
