Cable clutch, that's a PITA for replacing now, cable is NLA, most other bits are common the early 80's VAG range, so NLA on some bits, trim etc, but, in the grand scheme of things, no horrors... Chassis wise, look out for A pillars, front stanchions (ahead of Airbox and Rad to front panel), Windscreen area, bottoms of doors, boot floor, under rear lights and centre section of roof (condensation rust from centre roof brace)...

Floorpan at jacking points... Then, any accident damage...

assume corrosion and respray would be easy to spot on met brown like this. What should be walked away from?

What about odd things like, wheels bearings, clutch bearings & slave cylinders, trim thats hard to find or gauges that fail, bushes that go and cant be sourced easily. That sort of thing

I spoke to the chap selling it a matter of days before I found mine, I was thinking of going to have a look at it, only about 50miles from where I live. He seemed very helpful and knew alot about the car and its history. I wasnt aware then of how long its been for sale and also how rare these are now. As for what to look out for Im pretty new to all this, Ive had a few electrical problems which were a nightmare to diagnose but pretty simple to fix once I found out what it was. Check all the electrics work !
Dizzy cap, rotor arm and plugs (all be it a pack of 4) can be bought from halfrauds and I got a set of leads off ebay. new coil from my local auto stores, they even had an ignition amp on the shelf.

Ive even got a spare clutch cable in the boot!

good luck, go get her!
