I've had my Ur I think for 9 years this year

Aygo we've had since its first day on the road back in March 2007, now sporting mid 130k miles and still happily racking em up💨👍

The shortest ownership goes to the 80 Cabrio which lasted a few months until the V8 Cabrio replaced that, dam I miss that V8 😤😤

quattrokid - thanks for popping in, unfortunately you haven't qualified as a member for the 'long term Audi ownership club' on account of having sold and rebought the same car, how many times? 3? but I defo think that deserves a badge of sorts, will have to think one up, lol. 9yrs and 7yrs for the other two is pretty good though, wtg! ;)

Loving the humour in this thread!!!! ;) Keep it going "Boys":lol:

leggy 09-01-15 07:23 PM

Okay folks...
Clearly many of you have owned your Audi's for a loooong time, some a lot longer than I could even imagine, but going back to what Coxy said, "if this forum were to be renamed 'longest time of owning AND driving an Audi' the answers would certainly be somewhat different!"
My forum title has been changed, so, let's put Coxy's theory to the test shall we?, and so far only one member and one non-member has been able to equal/beat my own 'almost' 18yr record of both owning and using my 1992 Audi80 as a daily since purchase, but I'm sure that there must be more of you out there, so c'mon, let's be 'avin you! ;)

Should I call you Marty McFly?

Did you travel back in time to get that one extra year out of driving your Audi? :hmmm:

If you have owned said car since March 1998, and you got it on the 1st of March then at best you have had it 16 years, 10 months and 9 days if you include today.

So 'almost 17' is more like it :nono:

Does that mean everyone gets and extra year free of charge to add to their own numbers? :rock:

I also have to ask are you that person who is always holding up the traffic in a misted up red Audi 80 on the A43 every morning? Because if you are you are holding up all of the A4 drivers and they don't like it........ :tup:

If you like :lol::lol::lol:
The reason for adding an extra year has been explained, keep up, lol. :lol: :lol:
If you feel the need to add an extra year in order to compete with me, then be my guest, the more fully-fledged members in the 'long term Audi owners club', the better. :ihih:
Rarely use the A43, but if/when I do, I can still keep up with the A4 drivers, don't you worry about that. :tup:

Which brings me to ask, how long you owned and driven your Audi?

So, my ur was a daily use car from 1992 to 1999, when some muppet really pranged it. It was in and out of the body shop for the next 2 years before they finally starting playing nasty, and I was busy fighting the insurance company until 2003ish. But it still got some reasonable use from 03 to 05, although most of my time was being spent in Geneva by then.

2005 to 2008 was time spent in Scotland, and you can't not use a Quattro there. So it frequently got used. My 45 mile dash to the staff car park, being completed in double quick time, for a 5am report.
08, she got put into a bodyshop to do a proper renovation (less of that elsewhere), finally getting the car, or what was left of it, back ready to start my thread in the resto's section.

Once the muppets are excluded from the equation, it's a pretty reliable car. I have no qualms about getting in, and using it. I'm a little picky about where it gets parked, though.

We bought this in 1990 and have owned B2 coupe cars ever since...

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g.../Scan10020.jpg

Then we bought this on Fireworks night 1995, and we still have it and used regularly.

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...o/RSCN1098.jpg

Then the GT was written off in 2000, so bought this CQ...

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...o/DSCN1271.jpg

Which was stolen from a workshop and destroyed in 2008... So we bought this RallyRep.. and still have it.

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps22339037.jpg

We also bought this in 2002 when the first nipper arrived, and still have it...

The GT was a daily, the Ur was a daily until 2004, and the S2 is still a daily.... With the Ur coming out 'as a daily' when the weather is good....:tup:

leggy 10-01-15 09:48 PM

So what's your longest time of both owning AND driving an Audi (as a daily) Isimmo? Are we talking months? years? or just when the weather suits? :lol::lol::lol:

To answer your question, the longest time is 2002 to today for the S2, so 12 years. The Ur for Andrea from 1995 to 2005..10 years.... Then me, with the GT from 1990 to 2000, so 10 years again. We prefer to use them than look at them... :)

leggy 11-01-15 03:08 PM

Yay, we have another 'long term Audi owner' member, Isimmo, 10/12yrs, unfortunately not a fully-fledged member, they seem to be in short supply around here. :(
Anyway, no fluffy dice for you I'm afraid, sorry! but thanks for dropping by and sharing your piccies/stories. ;)

Had my WR for 22 years at the beginning of February

A lot of good times- some bad times....

But I would NEVER get rid of her

leggy 12-01-15 06:03 PM

M4rkp
Wow, 22yrs!, well that certainly qualifies you for the 'long term Audi club'.
It sure would be nice to have a few more fully-fledged members though, so, have you used the car as a daily for all of those 22yrs? ;)

M4rkp 12-01-15 06:15 PM

....Pretty much -

When i bought it back in Feb '93 she went straight into service as my daily runner - I was a freelance engineer back in those days so travelled a lot in her!

I also did a fair amount of travelling abroad so she got a well deserved break at times - Not used her a great deal in the past 4 years as I undertook a restoration exercise on her, but that is nearly complete now so she will get used again - she is on the road now but just clearing up a few minor paint issues and a hydraulic problem.

Mark

leggy 12-01-15 06:35 PM

Thanks for popping in again M4rkp...
So, taking in account the past 4yrs, 18yrs as a daily even with a few well deserved breaks (since 1 magic year is included) certainly qualifies you as a fully fledged member in my book, so YIPPEE, WOOHOO, welcome to the 'elusive long term Audi owners club', nice to have you on board!...now before you ask, your reward is a set of (imaginary for the time being!) fluffy pink dice to hang from your rearview mirror, not everyones cup of tea, but I'm told that they are all the rage (apparently) so be sure to look after them. :D

Phew! That was no easy feat I can tell you!, so my apologies If I've missed anyone or have gotten anything wrong. ;

One quick correction here please... We bought the Ur quattro thingy car on fireworks night 1995 and still own it... So slightly more than 17 yrs...

However car ownership shouldn't be about longevity, numbers or statistics, tables or charts... It should be about enjoyment, the thrill of ownership and that 'fizz' of delight when you walk across a car park and know you're getting into the right car.... That feeling comes from true enthusiasm, not proving stats; and can be equally passionate, if not more so, to folk who have owned classic Audi's for a matter of weeks, who have lowered, rat looked or modified... Classic Audi is all about celebrating classic audis, in all forms, to all owners, walts and all... What would be great is to see a similar thread for those who have owned their cars the least length of time, or done the least mileage in 20 years... There's a few here that'd do quite well in 'the number of Classic Audis parked up a tree or in a ditch' thread, (even without a rally spec).... The 'ultimate number of restros resold' thread would be good too... Although I can guess who'd win that....

This weekend, just get out there and enjoy them...:tup:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
FWIW Isimmo - I started this forum thread as a bit of fun to find out if anyone here has owned and used their car/s for as long as I have, a challenge if you like!
Sure, car ownership is about the enjoyment and the passion, but if showing an interest by asking questions (and in turn, providing a list of results, again, in a fun way, to include everyone who has responded so as 'not' to offend) is not also viewed as 'true enthusiasm', then I'm sorry, but I don't know what is. :(
With regards to your suggested (contradictory imo) threads, feel free, I'm heading back to my bed! :yawn:
Goodnight all!
vorsprung durch technik 17-01-15 09:03 PM
:shocked: Leggy, having looked at your list my record is 14 years and 16 days as i picked the car up with the rest of the cash from the dealer on 2/1/2001 and drove home the very proud owner of a stunning car that was only 5 years old. If you could be so kind as to amend :rock:
How do I stand with my B3 Coupe, owned for 2 years, sold, taken back in part exchange 5 years ago so is that 5 years or 7.
