Looks like the senor,is slightly leaking? This Sunday,I'll have a good look and get to the bottom of it. |

Went to GSF today and purchased part No 929VG0090.(TEMP SENSOR-1 PIN BLACK.)It cost me,£5.10.:yikes:
Took off the old one and fitted the new one. If you replace it when your engine's hot,be careful.The water that comes out,is very hot.Don't forget to top back up with water afterwards.:idea: The whole job,should have taken me about 5-10 minutes.It took me about half an hour,because the female connector snapped off:wall:.Had to walk about half a mile,to a motor factors.:( New sensor and new connector fitted.:tup: Turned key and started 1st turn of engine.:nod:Idle,settled back to about 850rpm.:tup: The problem I was having was when it did idle(intermittent.),it idled at 1100rpm.I thought it was my ISV,so changed it 2 times.No change.:wall: Touch wood.The new sensor,has cured the problem and she seems more responsive.:ihih: Only time will tell,but I hope it,s cured my lower than usual mpg?? It,s weird to drive and not worry about the car stalling.:smilewinkgrin:My starter,should last longer now.:nod: So if anyone is having the same symptoms,try this sensor first.If it's not that,you've only lost £5.10.(But could have saved,£150 on a new ISV?) I love it,when a job comes good. |

I believe I've never changed a single sensor on a KV engine and they have always been running right. But if it can be even better for a fiver then why not :) |

It was,25 years old.:)
The engine now,is alot more responsive(not drowning.) and acouple of my problems cured. My engine starts,1st time now.I thought it may have been my fuel accumulator?I still have to check it(and other things)just in case.:nod: For just over £5,everyone should give it a whirl.You maybe surprised??:tup: |
When the CQ is up and running again I'll be replacing this one for sure. Any more I should think of?

Best test sensor first.
Might not work for everyone,But for that price I thought I,d give it ago.

just done a search on temp sender and found this thread. I am having problems with the engine idling. it seems to be drowning and it really smells of petrol. I've traced it to the same ECU sender discussed here.. However my temp sender has two spade connections but only one cable! Is it the wrong sender and should be replaced with a single connection one? Engine is a KV engine. The engine starts easily and revs freely after you come over the initial idle speed. What about the cold start valve can this be stuck open so the "choke" is on all the time (easy starting/ but bad running). Thanks for any help and merry christmas. P.S. I've cleaned the ISV and checked it is working.

biggyin, does this look like the temp sensor to you? it's fitted to the rear of the 7A engine block
