I also have a 1 year old Lenovo laptop with XP on it (cos my brother said Vista was crap).

Every time I turn it on it spends 30 minutes updating this and that and then it is horrible to use.

Try a mac.........

Macs are undoubtly the best! :D

30 minutes updating?! That sounds a bit excessive! What's it updating? Windows stuff or other programs? They run a lot better with updates turned off (and annoying notifications). Sounds like there's lots loading up on start up (icons on bottom right hand side on start bar).

You can get a program called windowblinds, you can skin vista so it looks like XP, also you turn off a lot of the rubbish that slows down you PC

I used to have the same problem Amanda until I had to get used to a Mac as it's part of my job! Been Mac literate for about 4 yrs now and I love 'em! Obviously it depends on what you use them for though.

To be able to do everything you need both Windows and Apple!

OK,I hate Vista.

It doesnt let me down much as such, but after years of using 98 SE then the less stable XP (in my experience only!) this is shite.

Id have a Mac no worries if I could afford one.Miles nicer to use and no contest in looks...

Take all the rubbish off there that Vista runs in the background and your machine will run even faster..... I've seen this on the latest machines. I wouldn't touch windows 7 until its been around for 6 months or at least the 1st service pack, drivers won't be available at the start as well etc etc
