i hate everyone!!! :moon:

in all seriousness, i agree.. it may be funny to a couple of fellas down the pub, this it visible to the whole world, keep it civilised, when something is written down it text it can be read wrong and offence taken, also when its written down it took effort to do so and cant be considered a slip of the tongue.. weve all had run ins with people, regardles of race or creed.. if you have a problem dont display it on a public forum...

now let me get back to cheap shots about willys and tits!!

Totally agree, this may be a bit off the thread, but I think it is relevant.

Just think if the Syrian conflict started with a ban on all killing and instead opened of a forum called Classic Syria

With Assad as the UR Quattro of middle eastern politics.

Discuss.....

You might have 2 million posts as opposed to 500,000 dead, maybe the the UN should open a forum on all global conflicts. Good use of t'interweb i say. Keep moderators in a job:D

I can't remember if I've been there or not but it did come second in Britain in 2003, in this classic of a book. Really is a book worth reading, it's hilarious, and all written by 'natives' of the towns.

we have been calling you names for many centuries and i see no reason to stop now. it's all-encompassing so that none of you feel left out, no matter where you reside or what you look like.

if you live in england and have an english accent then i feel it's necessary to carry on our tradition in the above manner.

so, get it up ye !

You're not wrong that it's ingrained into Scottish psyche to hate the English. Spent a year living in Aberdeen and whilst I enjoyed the place and the people there was a lot of hatred for the English for seemingly no reasons other than stuff what happened 3/4 centuries ago!

Remember going out for a few drinks with some mates up there and they started spewing this hatred summed up nicely by one person saying "I f&*king hate all those English C78ts" then looking over to me and then saying "no offence, like". I wasn't offended as I knew they weren't setting out to offend me but I was massively curious as to why they felt they needed to have such anger.

If I can put my pedant hat on for a moment can we please use racist in the right context.

To be racist you must be referring to someone of a particular race of which there are a few main races, caucasian, black, asian, with the potential to include also aboriginal & native american (although I believe DNA wise they're associated with 2 & 3 respectively).

My Scottish friends weren't being racist, if anything they were xenophobic, but in actual fact they were just drunk tit's!

Honestly I think in the 'modern age' people like Margaret Thacher have a hell of a lot to do with that kind of thing. The image of southerners, through the eyes of folk who don't know any, is that of the condesending, arrogant, loud, Thatcher type.

I doubt there was that kind of divide after WW2.. Especially against Poles, who made up a force of about 20,000 in the RAF and Polish Airforce in Britain.;)

You shouldn't confuse scottish nationalism with anti-english sentiment either, although I'd wager that the rise of both are intrinsically linked to tory governments, unemployment rates and the apparent 'dismantling' of industrial britain. (which would have happened anyway, eventually)
But I bet that a huge slice of 'Northeners' hate tories for exactly the same reasons..

I love it over there. Havent been since 2012 but it's one of those places that you cannot keep wanting to go back to.

Love the Carickmacross/Dundalk area

I'm Irish and living in London (that's southern Irish by the way). We, the Irish, have always an inbred hatred of the English, much like the Scots do. Ours stems from a lot of history, but lets face it, we're a nation of people who generally don't give a sh*t and love to have the craic instead. I like London well enough, Londoners are, well, Londoners, but once I'm outside the M25 I have never met any English man or woman I haven't liked. Ye're a great bunch, and as long as I've lived in London I have never had any bother for being Irish. And I find the further away from London you go, the nicer and funnier you all get. History is history, it lives somewhere in the past and it doesn't make a blind bit of difference to the way things are now. This a great country, and while it's not home, it's home from home.

Right, now lets all go to the pub, have a session and get pished!!! :arf:
