Sorry to hear this. Shame if it goes as like you say, it's a low mileage one and has only just been run in.
As to whether it's worth repairing, that will be down to yourself and how much you want to keep the car. If the insurance pay out on it, it be classed as a CAT C or D right-off.
Not that that should be anyone off on older cars, but it seems to attach a certain stigma to them.
I'd rather a CAT C or CAT D car than one which has been lovingly restored and sponsored by Isopon in the process.

bummer
have you thought about getting a coupe just for the shell and transplanting all your good parts over to it and that way you will save 2 cars;) you might even sell your shell for a rally project .

Thats a real shame and has happened to mine twice, fortunately over 12 years ago when spares were still available. Another reason why i take mine off the road between 1st November and 31st April. Too many arses about who cannot drive on wet/icy roads and do not look or even worse, as witnessed this morning driving off without demisting/de-icing the windscreen. Wondered why he was doing 20mph or less. Just missed a parked car too....

Thats a real bummer. Can you buy the car back off the ins company and then get her put right at a later date? Seems a shame another classic has to bite the dust. I'm another who puts the car away from Nov till the spring. Although this year I taxed her to go down to Castle Coombe and hasn't been used since. The idea is to take her for a spin on a dry days over the weekends.

yes i agree also with bagee find the parts and put the car back on the road after a ministry check m8 your cars too good to scrap m8

moomin 10-12-08 05:36 PM

Gonna get a big hammer and see if i can't pull the back straightish again. Shame it wasn't a taller car that hit me, could have just replaced the boot, BUT NO had to hit the unreplacble chassis :(

Third party has offered me £1000 for the car if I keep it out of insurance. I'm going to take it and keep the audi on the road in it's battered state, once I've fixed the bent and leaking exhaust.

Sorry to here that matie :(

pimpdriver 10-12-08 05:57 PM

If it did that much damage to the car, what damage did it do to your back and neck?

Go through the insurance, it's only a car, your body is worth much more than that.

And people who usually want to "not go through the insurance" are probably hiding something........

kully 10-12-08 07:20 PM

yes you should go through insurance and id get you top cash for the car
