I got a shock when I drove the 100 for the first time, they do need a good shove! big difference from the A6.

I have to be careful when i swap from the quattro into the Festa- I nearly go through the windscreen at first

True - vacuum reservoir. Your MityVac is your friend.

No they don't. The problem is a combination of reporting tolerance in the senders and ageing in all the components.

When you work through an ur-quattro or Type 44 braking system and restore EVERYTHING to nominal the brakes are excellent.

Most of the 'Porsche monoblock' and similar upgrades done to 1980s quattros are pointless Band-Aids to a sub-optimal braking system.

Main difference I found on my CQ was the following:

I changed all of the pads and disks and refurbed the callipers and the brakes were pretty rubbish even after all of that.

Next thing I did was change the brake flexible hoses, what a complete difference, firm pedal and much better braking efficiency, the car I think now stops as its intended to.

Overhauled the coupe brakes on my poor old gt and they were absolutely fine.
Never had any cause for concern with them.

hmmm, well i may invest in some new brake hoses then , no doubt they could do with being changed anyway tbh

This is true, I had my eyes opened up to this at Castle Combe this year, on track, in a quattro, with standard single pot brakes and uprated pads... It's braking ability was astonishingly good. competition standard almost.
