Well im jim and come from brechin in scotland. I bought an 1989 audi coupe 2.2 10v 6 months ago for £100. it was bound for the scrap pile and didnt even go, but there was just somthing about it that i couldnt let it be destroyed. So i got started took it along to my work to get a proper look underneath as it had sat outside with the windows down for around a year and was full of water,to my surprise i discovered an extremly good floor. so i got stuck in about the engine, a ceased water pump for starters. Replaced the pump and all belts all fuel lines were perrished too so they were replaced, fuel pump realy replaced too, then it was time for the big start up YEEHA its alive. next step was getting it motd so this was where the money started to drain away, it got: 4 new callipers brake discs and pads,2 lower wish bones with poly bushed anti roll links, all flexi brake pipes, centre exhaust section with a remus twin pipe exhaust which cost more than the car but well worth it, not a stupid big one or just pure noise but a smart looking exhaust. there were other issues such not 1 matching wheel on it and hedlamp stalks and wipers not working due to the water ingress as well as sourcing a new identical interior but 2 month after i bought it we were at last on the road. next step was the body work, so it got both front wings repaired, door bottoms,rear arches and the dents in the bonnet repaired then we were ready to go to the shows. all in it cost around £1000 to put this on the road again which is relatively cheap as im a mechanic and did it all my self other than the painting which was done as a job for a job. some folk think im daft but the end result is a car that i am very proud of and know inside out. thanks for reading will get some photos uploaded.
